Oh, maybe they'll take that route for the live-action film, then. I'd be fine with that. That was one thing I liked about the Odinpower; Thor could just fly with that instead of twirling his hammer around like a crazy person all the time.

Has Thor ever used Mjolnir like a nunchaku?

I hope Thor is as good as his Mugen counterpart when it comes to fighting. He's great to use when it comes to playing. :awesome:

Eh, I was thinking more along the lines of Michaelangelo from TMNT.

Chris needs lessons from Chan. lol

Nope one source says the effects were too costly to do it with CGI.
Tho there ARE plenty of other ways to do it if you ask me.

To costly? To have Thor spin Mjolnir is to costly? Oh dear lord what is the budget for this movie? If this is indeed true then this is a bad sign. A watered down Thor and Mjolnir. I figured after seeing that footage that Thor wasn't going to be powerful like he is in the comics. Now I know he won't have Hulk or Superman level strength like he is supposed to. And Marvel is in charge of this and they can't get it right? Again this does not bode well for the movie. I would expect a non spinning Mjolnir if Fox was at the helm, like the Galactus cloud but for this to come from Marvel? Sad disappointment. My hopes for this film just sunk.

heh like I've said in here, how difficult would it be to swing a sensor and record it?
Who knows maybe if this movie does well (not that it wouldn't) the 2nd movie will have the classic spin.

it's a magic uru hammer, why would spinning it be out? part of its power it to be able to spin it and create portals. i would like to see thor spin mjolnir to create a portal back to asgard atleast once. but either way like you said must leave something for a sequel

I guess Thor will get creamed in about 4 seconds by the Destroyer then, huh?

:hehe:

In my opinion, you are over-reacting a tad. Personally, I prefer to wait and see what develops before making such sweeping assumptions.

Spinning's not that huge a deal to me. It's iconic, but it's also all imaginary. Translating that to reality and having it look really good seems like quite a challenge.

Thing that gets me is alot of Medieval films have Slings, and nobody has problems with those.
I'd like to see the swinging in the future tho.

The things is slings are not as unweild
ly as Mjlolnir let alone take you into the sky.

Yeah, the movie prop seems rather massive. Even if you go by that Jackie Chan thing that misjuevos posted, the hammer there is nowhere near the size of Mjolnir, the thong is like 5 times longer, and Chan's swinging it around two-handed. Apply that to Thor and Mjolnir as they appear in the film and, first off, it probably wouldn't even work because of the vastly different balance of the hammerhead vs. the handle vs. the thong on Mjolnir, and even if it did, Thor moving the way Jackie Chan was in that footage would look really weird for the character.

Yeah, the Jackie Chan video with the hammer was cool (in a martial arts kind of way), but it does not fit at all with what I would think of as Thor's fighting style.

Surfer

Thor's style should be more like a smith working at a forge. His martial arts are based on his abilities which require very little evasion given his speed and strength.

I am sure whatever they do it will look good.

They know that. They mentioned at CCI that they looked at Mike Tyson's boxing style a lot and went for a power-based style in general.

Wow! Gotta love the passion at least.

No spinning Mjolnir sunk your hopes?

Some things just gotta change when you make a movie. Sometimes it works (organic web shooters), sometimes it fails (mute Hulk). But with Thor I think we'll make out better than what the movies have done to Batman. He has been neutered so badly that he wouldn't even fit in a JLA movie now unless they changed him dramatically.
