Days of Future Past The Official Nicholas Hoult/Beast Thread

But it's been eleven years. He shouldn't be in the same place as he was at the end of FC. Another reason why the Hulk angle doesn't work is because, for Bruce Banner the Hulk is an uncontrollable monster so it means there are consequences for Banner losing his temper. When Beast changes he just looks different and gets stronger and more agile. If there are no consequences for him getting angry then why should we care?

You think there will be no consequences in a world where those that look different are hated and feared?

I would imagine this blue-furred monstrosity will more than likely experience some prejudice of his own. I don't know it's just a hunch. :oldrazz:

In the last film, you were one of the mutants who don't accept that they're mutants, and try to change. How are you in this film? What's happening in this movie with Hank?

Hank doesn't like the attention. He's ashamed of it. He doesn't want people staring at him and pointing fingers. He's still not at peace with his appearance in this film.

How have events over the past ten years affected Hank? He's seen the Cuban Missile Crisis, and now Vietnam and Watergate. Has that affected his world view in any way?

It's affected him completely, because in those ten years, they've built the house, the lab, the school. This has all been happening, and a lot of the teachers and students have been recruited and drafted for the [Vietnam] war. So that's made the situation in the house regress a little bit, and made Charles retreat into himself even more. And Hank's been more of a support for him. So that's all linking in, and that's the brilliant thing about being able to mingle and slightly change history in a film, and have fun with it. Where events everyone know how they happened connect to the mutant thing.

I'm still not impressed with the "it" couple's acting.

It looks like he has some sort of needles in his hand

I kinda liked Jennifer Lawrence's performance and I just think its the way her character is written and they already said that her character will be a mix of FC/OT. So we will still get the Mystique that we saw in FC but this time, she has action scenes.

About Nicholas Hoult, he never impressed me and there's just something awkward about him that I don't like. I feel like if his character isn't getting character development, he'd easily fade into the background.

Too much gum, but other than that I think it looks okay.

To me it seems like they are just doing it so there are less scenes where they have to apply all that make-up. Fox probably figured they could save $1000 on labour costs for those few extra hours so they resorted to lazy writing.

I'd say less lazy, and more for giving Hoult some face time (same with Lawrence).

I actually like what I've heard about Beast's story so far. It seems like a natural extension of his conflict in FC, and it appears to compliment Xavier's arc of acceptance too.

Watching FC again right now. Been focusing on Hoult. I like that guy a lot. Not a bad actor, and very likable presence.

And January Jones still doesn't bother me much. And I'd like to think that it's not just because I think she's pretty.

I like Hoult. His character was a bit of a wimp though, which makes him harder to like. The scene where he's moaning about acceptance to Mystique, a woman covered head-to-toe in blue skin and scales, when all he needs is some slightly bigger shoes... that infruriates me haha

Nah, we were all wimps when we were big-footed teens isolated into a lab. He'll get over that phase.

But he's also very nerdy which doesn't help him

His nerdy ways is what makes me like him lol
