I bought several things from that sale and am about to buy several more. :O

I can't help it when a PS1 games go on sale. Even if I own the physical version already, the PS1 is still one of my favs. It's been a while since I've played BOFIV, Megaman X4, and Klonoa! I can't wait!

A remaster is simply a port. In recent terms it refers to taking the original game and improving the visuals by upping the resolution and possibly adding new textures and increasing the framerate. With that said, its still the same game. A remake is new title. Its inspired by a game but its developed new from the ground up. Ratchet and Clank was already remastered for the PS3. They've said that this new game will be a remake which will streamline his origins with the new movie. Its inspired by the original game but expect new areas and content and this should look dramatically different as it will be a PS4 original title as opposed to a PS2 port

Oh I see I cant want to hear more about the new ratchet and clank game E3 is not far away I am sure it will be there.

this is fake, obviously, but i think it's kinda funny

Nintendo getting out of the console business and making games for others is an interesting concept. I can't see it ever happening. And honestly, while I hate the Wii U, I do have very fond memories of the NES, SNES, N64, and Gamecube. I hope they can one day again have a killer console.

yeah man, nintendo is synonymous with video games. they're not doing so well with the wii u, but they can certainly take the heat. i'm sure they'll bounce back.

I think they will too but IF they don't,then at least they would still be synonymous with making quality games..unless they become like Sega but imagine a Mario game using the power of a Playstation or Xbox!

IF they were to become an exclusive first party developer for Sony or MS then that would give that console a major boost!

your second statement would only happen if sony or mS buys them, and nintendo ain't lookin to be bought.

also, one could argue that after going 3rd party, sega & sonic's seen a very steady decline in popularity. i don't think the same would happen to nintendo, but it's just sad, you know.

Hopefully their new console will solve their problems.

But the move into developing quality Mobile games is probably their best in a good while.

I don't even see this as remotely plausible. Sony is in no shape to buy a major company. At best, I could see a merger happening, if Nintendo really continues to just do terribly, but even then it's extremely unlikely.

Okay okay fine,IF Nintendo goes THIRD party then at least they may still remain popular/legendary and all that IF they continue making quality games.

But like I typed before,I think they will be fine with their next console

I doubt the exact same thing would happen, but Sega and Nintendo operated on the same hardware-based business, so if Nintendo were to go third party they'd undoubtedly go through a big downsizing like Sega was forced to do.

EDIT: I legit didn't realize this was the PS4 thread when I posted this.

it's probably coz of that photoshop I posted.

even before the dreamcast died, i think nintendo's IPs had bangin more popularity than sega's.

SEGA never had as many popular franchises. SEGA only had one franchise in the same league as Mario, Zelda, Pokémon and Donkey Kong.

SEGA also has a habit of doing nothing with well received franchises.

and even that that IP didn't exactly keep up in popularity.

huh? but you had to click on the thread to get to the discussion...

Hence "not paying attention".

But yeah, Nintendo in general had better IPs and was a bigger company than Sega. But that's a different topic.

Overexposure, and lack of quality control. I say Mario gets overexposed sometimes, but they don't release a mainline Mario every year. And even the spin offs have a very high degree of quality control.

At one point, Sonic had a major game every year for like five years. Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), Sonic and the Secret Rings (2007), Sonic Unleashed (2008), Sonic and the Black Knight (2009), Sonic Colors (2010), and Sonic Generations (2011).

And that's not counting the spin offs like Sonic Riders, and All-Stars Racing, sports games, and handheld titles.

overexposure and annualization could cause declining quality but not always necessarily popularity or sales.

Well, Sonic '06 was exceptionally bad. I think that really was a turning point for the brand. Granted, Shadow the Hedgehog (2005) had its share of criticism, but it was a spin off.

Sonic '06 was designed to celebrate and revive the franchise, and it was just a broken game. The mediocre games that followed did nothing to help. Although part of that was because the brains behind Sonic left SEGA during the development of Sonic '06.
