My lids about to pop! We need some info, ESP now that Nolan announced the cast for The Dark Knight Rises!

Christopher Nolan has finally spilled the beans on the villain in the next Batman movie. Anne Hathaway will put on the Cat-suite and suite up as Catwoman! Me, personally, she was high on my list to play Lois Lane in the new re-boot set for 2012 Superman: Man of Steel but Hathaway was a steal for this movie! Also, Tom Hardy will play Bane! With this casting finally revealed, is Supes next?! Lets hope we get scoop soon!

Christopher Reeve didn't look like Superman when he was cast.

At the time, this guy was Superman according to the general public;

And for comic readers, Superman looked like this;

So when Reeve was announced, people complained that he didn't look the part, that he was too boy-ish, pretty, etc...

But when Superman: The Movie came out, people were dazzled by his performance and his look.

It wasn't until 1986 that John Byrne decided to draw Superman to look more like Reeve.

That Curt Swan Superman has kind of an Armie Hammer vibe going on.

Reeve had a weird nose, but not as noticeable or distracting like Welling's flaring nostrils. Also, I've heard people saying that some did't like his look back in the day because he looked too young (compared to George Reeves). So yeah, now Reeve has reached a very high status in the fandom, but he was also criticized back in his day by some. I know of some poeple today who don't care for him much. I think he was great overall, but certainly not perfect or unbeatable in the role. Noone is.

Reeve IS Unbeatable, will never be matched by anyone ever. Deal with it.
He is the ultimate example of how Superman should look like.

Reeve put his all into playing Clark Kent and Superman, even in Superman 3 and 4 where he was surrounded by weaker cast members and a poor script.

He was a classically trained actor with more talent that any so called "A" listers today. He was criminally underappreciated as an actor by many people. People don't realise how good Reeve was.

I want the next Superman to try and have all the qualities that Reeve had, both visual and acting. Even though its not possible, you have to aim high.

We cannot accept any weak suggestions. As for not wanting the "Reeve" look. Its the not the "Reeve" look but the SUPERMAN look.

Damn right the new Superman should look similar to Reeve, he is the standard. He doesn't have to have the exact same look, but similar facial features is a must.

We don't want any short assed baby faced pansies

Long live the Ultimate Superman, Christopher Reeve.

That's the spirit. Never hope for something better, just dwell on what once was.

After looking at the "Hathaway is Catwoman" threads..... this place is going to be a disaster! :csad:

Yes. And since I have a feeling that it will be Hammer, the backlash should be enormous.

When I read Hathaway was Catwoman, I sighed.

The only thing I want, what I've been hoping from the very start, is that I won't have that same reaction to Superman.

It could be hammer.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Hammer gets it, but I'd also be okay with Cavill or Routh. These three seem to be the best of the many candidates being floated in this thread. I like Welling, but he is unlikely (not 100% impossible though) due to the SV baggage. P.S. I like SV, so by baggage I'm not implying anything negative, just that if it is a different take on the mythos the casting of TW could make it confusing.

Only old-timer comic folks can recall the Curt Swan art in comics or a well-versed hardcore comic fan (or a frequent SHH site visitor :oldrazz:) on Superman actor history to justify that Hammer is a good pick based on his looks. I expect that the majority (casual comic readers, gen Y/Z public, etc) are more exposed to Chris Reeve-influenced media as well as ummmh, Smallville. It's going to be tough sell if Snyder picks Hammer as his leading man :woot:

I can live with Hammer as Supes but... the story and the cast needs to be effin d@mn good to compensate the mediocre Supe image :cwink: (but I might eat my words if Snyder pulls a surprise from his rabbit hat)

Nolan actually "stole" Hardy and Hathaway for TDKR, a very good Lex Luthor and more than a decent Lois Lane respectively...

I was raised on Curt Swan's version of Superman so I guess that makes me an old timer lol.:yay:

^that image has far greater problems then the suit. I don't understand why every manip of an actor require Reeve's helmet hair as if thats a requirment for superman. Honestly it makes the actors look worse when you shove that perfectly coiffed 70's hair on them.

Isn't that Hammer's own hair though? Except for the recoloring?

Posted this in the manip thread. Ten second manip of Michael Fassbender as Superman. Credit to MAN O STEEL for most of the work.

Use another suit! The SR suit sucks!

Dammit!

EXACTLY! Everything about it screams 'POOP." Really, I don't think I like ANYTHING about the Returns suite. It's so damn cheesy! That belt is hilarious. It's just so JV to me. What a bomb that movie was. Damn, I'm ready to hear atleast some rumors of the new movie! Anything!

if this is basically Superman Begins then Fassbender is just too old.

Dark Knight, how about you look up some of the Superman suits that manippers should use because your greedy complaints are annoying.
