MTV interview with Hamm in regard to playing The Man of Steel:

"I talked to Zack [Snyder] quite a bit. We had some looping and some reshoots and stuff to do on 'Sucker Punch.' But no, I think that's a young man's game now. I think I've been aged out of that one by now, but that's fine with me. There are plenty of other people available to put on tights."

Though an admitted huge comic book fan, Hamm believes he's "aged out of that competition," and joked that he wouldn't get the part, "unless Superman's power was the power of being really old."

If only Hamm were 10 years younger. Why must every Superman candidate have something wrong with him? Where's our Christian Bale?

He's out there somewhere....he's probably already tested or soon will.

His voice is good in begins and in the begins video game. It sucked in TDK, so nolan really needs to not 'enhance' it this time.

hmmm... interesting and a good choice by the mods. :awesome:

well i know routh is out because snyder already said so but he did not count out tom yet. i have a few theories on this and smallvilles ending, im going to post a youtube video about it later.

my vote is for welling or hamm. now be easy on me guys!

Snyder never said Routh is out. Get your facts straight.

Don't know if this will work but Armie Hammer pic from Golden Globes

Is his hair dark or just wet? I'm not saying he darkened his hair for Supes, just something to look at. Maybe MTV or someone asked him bout Supes.

They may find a complete unknown to play the part of Superman, but it would be very surprising if Hammer doesn't make the top three when they narrow it down. He would be about the same age as CR was when he did STM. If he got the part he would still look good if they got to a third movie in 2017 or so. Hammer's not 100% perfect but bulked up and in the costume he'd be pretty close. BTW, if Snyder wanted Routh for this re-boot, (unlikely i know) and thought he could get a good performance out of him, that's fine by me.

Was Routh signed for a sequel? If so do they have to pay him off if he is passed over? Also this is a Legendary pictures production. If WB/Snyder didn't want any connection to SR why entrust the same company that produced the last Superman movie?

Well it sounded a little enhanced in parts of Begins, so I guess Nolan just overdid it for TDK.

Snyder came out and said this is a totally new take on supes and has no connections to any superman that came before it.

that not only discounts routh but welling as well

To be fair, in the context of that statement, Zack Snyder was referring to storyline, not casting.

The story does not "owe anything" to anything that came previous.

it is the same thing they go hand and hand it is like rebooting daredevil and bringing back Ben

After 10 years people still b**** and moan because their boy Welling ain't getting cast lol ...

has'nt tom said he wants to get into directing anyways sine he has directed some smallville episodes

Any trepidation the general public or fanboys might have with casting Routh for the reboot (let's face it, facially/height wise he has the look down cold) would be nullified by a trailer that makes you go "F&%$!! I want to see that movie". That's what I said when I saw the Suckerpunch trailer.

I would love for Routh to be back but WB wants people to forget Superman Returns and embrace a new Superman, so that won't happen.

The only way Welling will play Superman on the big screen is if the film is Smallville: The Movie. And that isn't happening.

I think this time WB is looking for a young actor who is still almost an unknown, but is gaining popularity and getting good reviews for his acting. Someone like Armie Hammer.

Just saw an article on CBM, but it has just been taken down. The article claims that Snyder just read the 1/11 draft of Goyer's script. The article also stated, as rumor with no support, that Snyder was interested in Mila Kunis for Lois, Michael Fassbender for Lex, Chris Cooper for Perry, and Paul Dano for Jimmy.
