Well everyone is going to be picky.

We want the Actor playing Superman to be PERFECT for the role.

Not just 'kinda looks like him' or 'is a really good actor' or 'is one of my favourite actors'.

Everybody on this thread has theirs. That's what manips are for. Realising that fantasy.

There are no perfect suggestions on this site BTW...

:up::yay::up:
Just Look at Welling or Routh, to some people they are perfect for the role, but to the other half they are dreadful and still cringe at the possibility of them being superman

having been involved in the television and film industry back in the 80's i will assure you that reeves did not display the superman traits off screen. He was far from the macho manly man that we associate with his role as superman.

I think people believe reeves is what superman should look like simply because he is who became film's version of superman that is known to most people of the mainstream population still alive today, so they make an assumption that is what superman should look like. I don't buy into that sentiment.

Reeve

My point was not about being macho.
It was about being a role model.
We don't want headlines like "Superman falls out of a stripclub at 3am" or "Superman, the callgirl and a bag of coke".
Our next Superman needs to carry the role beyond the cameras.. He has to respect the role and respect what Superman stands for.

hmm, anybody else try that link on SHP that talks about joe? it says broken.

I think the main issue people have with Routh is his acting ability. . . Most people agree he at least now looks the part. . .

Therefore we should be looking at actors who are known to be greatly talented and then looks come second? I still feel most of the suggestions are based on appearance and none of them seem to come close to Routh's. . .

My point is if you're going to sacrifice the perfect look, let's hear some names of potentials who can def nail the performance and who also have a workable, 'good enough' look, this is the way I think the casting people will be approaching the process this time. . .

Again, talking about actor's needing nose job's before going in front of the camera (and this is his supporters) seems absurd to me. . .

I've seen Manganiello on True Blood, and like I've said before, I don't find him all that impressive. He doesn't really stand out at all, I'd even go so far as to say he's a bit boring. I hope he shows more impressive stuff as the season goes on.

God, I really hope that He-who-must-not-be-named-except-in-Smallville-forums doesn't get the role. I really would consider not seeing it if that happened.

Ah come on even if TW was cast, it would still be a Superman movie. If the worst option was cast I'd still watch it. That's just me as I'm a fan of the character.

I'd prefer Hamm, but i'd be ok with joe *IF* he got it...we have a long time to go yet though.

not a fan of Joe....he has Superman-like features, but he doesn't look like Superman. he has a strong jaw/chin and piercing eyes, but he looks too menacing for Supes.

I didn't realise Joe Manganiello played Flash Thompson in Spider-man, I wouldn't mind him at all tbh.

I don't get it...people complain and moan and nearly protest when actors are double-cast as comicbook figures. Reynolds as both Deadpool and Green Lantern. Evans as Captain America and Human Torch. But nobody is saying anything about Manganiello as both Superman and Flash Thompson? Granted, his role in Spider-Man was minor, but still...

Now, I don't have an issue with that (my distaste for him as Superman stems from completely other elements), but I'm surprised it hasn't been brought up.

I like Joe because to my eyes he looks nothing like Routh or Reeve, but he looks just like superman from the comics in the 90´s

(And has a "Don't mess with me" thing going on that I would like on superman)

People seriously think WB would bring on the Nolans & Goyer and fork over $200 million+ just to do a Smallville movie? It would seem these same people also ignored Movie Hole flat out saying the "TV Actor" in question was in fact not Welling.

You'd be surprised. Some "insiders" are still claiming Nolan met with Welling. Yeesh.

Well, his role was very small, and he looks very different now, most people don't know or would notice he was Flash T.

If anything, imo it would be a made for TV film with TW..I could see that, but not a SV film. If they did that, then might as well bring routh back.

I dont know if they can ever be a near-perfect Superman after Christopher Reeve.

Having the looks is one thing like Routh, but he was very poor trying to imitate Christopher. I feel with a better script,he might have done a better job at his own interp of Superman. Im sure of it,but now we'll never know.

There are actors out there who look almost exactly like comic Supes, but almost everyone knows that most of them cant act or dont give that presence that Christopher once did and that is required.

I put that down to people's fear of having another Routh in certain terms. Must of us have to learn to give an actor the benefit of the doubt, otherwise we'll just stay in the same rut untill Q4 2012.

While we may never get THEE perfect Superman,Im confident that the right choice will be made, and we get something that is rightfully deserved.

I understand, I think superman should be able to have attitude also, he shouldn't always be wide eyed and innocent!! I just would wonder if Joe could portray the other sides of the character?

Something I'm pretty sure a Hamm or Cavill could so for sure. . .

I think either a respected higher profile tv/movie actor is the way to go
