So I've been working on some more custom figures from the movie and another statue for my good friend up north! Here's some of the progress

On the statue, I'll be doing a completely new head sculpt AND I'm re-creating the vault scene as a diorama

Glassjaw - Thanks for the kind words!I started on this Zod figure a few months ago. As for the symbol itself, I had a pretty high-res pic from one of those toy mock commercials for the MOS toys and it showed Zod's symbol pretty clearly. Still there was a little guess work, but I'd say I got pretty close, like 98% accurate. From the pics of Michael Shannon in that suit, I really thought the symbol was a glossy black, but when the Mattel pic came out yesterday, I picked up the figure and painted the symbol silver. Took all of five minutes, but I'd done the sculpting ahead of time. Thanks again!

How can you say they're not very good work?? Damn you are overly critical. Borderline rude even when it comes to another person's art in here. I mean this is a fan site and a fan art thread. Not a professional art corner. And just because it's your opinion does not make it less rude.

I like it. I think it's very well done and I appreciate the work and the time that a fellow Superman fan put in to make it. Yes it's a different interpretation of Supes then we are used to with the muscles being larger and more exaggerated. It's just different. Not junk. And where is the rule that everything in here needs to be very good? That's not what the title says... And your idea of very good might be someone else's junk.

Great picture! But am I the only person who thinks Warner Bros may have been inspired by the sickle from the Communist flag to make Zod's shield? They look very similar in most aspects

No, it's been mentioned before that they do look similar. There could be a subconscious effect there on viewers as many Westerners may equate Superman with freedom, and Zod with oppression. But his symbol also resembles Darkseid's Omega symbol so who knows what the intention truly was.

I mean, when we look at Superman's shield, it's always been an S, no matter how much it was twisted and curved. Looking at this Zod shield, I couldn't understand how it might be a Z. But I think I may have come across something.

Maybe it's supposed to be a cursive Z? But in that respect, it could also be seen as a 3. I don't know, I'm just spitballing here.

Btw the original shield manip is Binker's, if anyone didn't notice 2 posts above..

...you do realize that these letters aren't a literal translation, right? They're supposed to be house crests. English =\= Kryptonian. Any resemblance to English letters is a pure coincidence. That being said, it'd be ridiculous for there to be two house crest symbols who happened to perfectly match the first letter of the characters' names, which is why Zod's crest does not resemble an actual Z.

Yeah, like the "S" stands for Superman, but that's because in the classic stories, people (Lois, Metropolis, Clark, whoever, etc.) made/created that association themselves. Since 1978, the "S" doesn't stand for something, but is a literally meaning in reference of something. Like a famly crest. And El doesn't have an "S" in that name/word, so it would make sense that Zod's crest doesn't have a "Z" in it, which is something Johns/Donner had in "Last Son", but is also something "For Tomorrow" made a mistake on. So yeah
