Like I said in the "American Critics thread"...DAMN THIS SURGE OF NEGATIVE REVIEWS!!! :argh:

Just got my IMAX/3D tickets for Friday. Can't wait to see it.

Only one bad review out of the top critics so far. You do the math, by the time this gets over 200 reviews, which it should have, it should stay above 90%.

As was noted in the comments over there, it's obvious that "top critic" is looking for publicity by going against 90% of the critics out there. Apparently, he's know for it. Critics that make up their minds BEFORE they see it and WANT to hate because they are sick of the genre will be a problem all summer. I choose to pay attention to the Richard Roeper's of the world and not these jaded wannabes.

Yeah, it's all a big conspiracy. Different opinions are a myth.

saw the movie yesterday and really enjoyed it. the acting was good, the humor was nice. for the direction that they went for it was good.
sure it could have been made longer and in the style and scope of LotR due to all the mistical elements, but i don't think that they had that much money and time.
so for this direction they chose the movie flows nicely. there are no dragging scenes and it really enjoyable.
i do hope that at some point marvel will decide to risk and invest more in some movies to make them on the scope of LotR. both thor and avengers have that potential.

^ Yeah, hopefully Thor makes enough money to ensure sequels with a scope as large as LotR's or even bigger. :woot:

Ok, the three transitions that are quite jarring are

1) When it transitions from Odin talking with Thor & Loki as children to Thor's coronation.
2)When Odin is speaking at the coronation and then it jumps to Odin's vault and the Frost Giant attempt to get the Casket of Ancient Winters back.
3)When it transitions from Jane, Selvig and Darcy after just having backed over Thor with Jane's vehicle to where we get all the bumpkins trying to lift mjolnir and basically having what looks like a tailgate party at the crash site.

On subsequent viewings, these aren't as jarring since you know they're coming but really these are such an easy fix that I'm still scratching my head as to why they weren't.

I agree, those transitions were very sudden indeed. So much, that i thought that there was something wrong with the film reel and it jumped a scene or something.

^ I like their comments and i agree with most of them.

Earle, I keep involuntarily reading your posts with Sinestro's voice.

Well we all know how accommodating you are of other's opinions. So I guess you'd agre that when Rex Reed wrote "Batman Begins is for morons", it was an informed opinion.

I know I have no evidence that he said that just to get the attention or that he thought that of the movie before watching it as the poster here was affirming. Agreeing with the buy or not has nothing to do with accusing him of things.

And I didn't think too much of BB either. :joker:

Why is BB for morons?

It's not, that was Rex Reed's header of his review of the film. I'm merely pointing out the fact that writers often try to be *******s when reviewing films merely for attention.

There are bad reviews of every film, including acadamy award winning films. Just read some of the bad reviews of the King's Speech. Some reviewers go out of their way to be contrarian just to get attention. I'm not saying they're all that way, but there's definitely a contingent.

Ask the moron who said that. :woot:
:awesome:

True that.

Also true.

Mark Kermode reviews Thor:

[YT]6NLDKH3mFAU[/YT]

I know it's sometimes hard to figure out just what his ultimate conclusion is but...I think he liked it.

Here's Kermode's extended take w/ emails(gets to the actual film at about 1:40 into the clip):

So what he's saying is that Thor is good because of Brannah's past? That's a very objective opinion of him.
