Evans has to prove nothing.
Only that he's not the Human Torch. What I've seen so far in the Trailer I'm quite convinced people will forget he played Johnny Storm. not that I want them too, I loved his Johnny Storm.

I think Evans does have to prove something since he hasn't really been able to carry a movie by himself before.

He was languishing in obscurity before he got called up to do cap.

I still stand by Evan's in Sunshine basically just being Steve Rogers...INNNNNN SPPPAAAAACCEEEEEE

The thing is Hemsworth is such a good Thor and Downey is essentially Tony Stark. Evans has to prove he carry Steve just as well as they can.

I think he'll do fine Vile, I've grown to trust Marvel Studio's choices in Actors as of late.
I really can't wait to See Thor and Rogers interact.

Which, like I said in my post above yours, I honestly believe he can.

Eh. Evans like the rest of Sunshine was a complete snoozefest so hopefully his performance will be better than that.

I agree JAB. Was the 2nd Cap trailer ever Released, or are they waiting for SDCC?

saw it again and just had two minor quibbles...I would have liked for Thor to use more lightning...and the Hawkeye scene, while kool, was pointless

So, i have a question for those who saw it in 3D. Is most of the movie in 3D or is it only a select few scenes that dont make it worth paying extra to see?

I just came back from seeing in in IMAX 3D. I didn't think there was anything wrong with the 3D. If you're looking for things to come out at you, then no, there really isn't any of that. But if you're looking for a conservative, tasteful use of 3D to add a subtle depth, then I think it works great. I, myself was impressed with the use of the 3D, and how at times I forgot I was watching a 3D movie, only to be blown away by it a scene later. I say see it in 3D.

Just saw it and loved it. Perfect blend of Asgard and Earth and all the supporting characters got good screen time.

It's not an argument, it's an opinion. An opinion on 'what is funny' one of the most subjective topics out there. You feel a certain way, other people feel differently. If it's left at that, it's fine. If it keeps getting brought up, like this, to try and stir the pot and get a reaction by being passive aggressive, then it's bordering on trolling. If you GENUINELY don't want to be considered a troll, your next post is very important. You can enter a discussion or keep repeating yourself. Choice is yours.

Sorry man, 'trolling' is not defined by disagreeing with you.

As far as I know I'm free to post my opinion here as long as I'm not disrespectful to others or a name-caller. So what my next post about this movie will be, is still just an opinion, not an official label.

I have also defended Thor from ridiculous accusations of being some B&R kind of movie and have said it's better than many other Marvel movies, including TIH.

Different opinions exist. I'm not mad at people finding it good so please don't be mad at people finding it less than good.

I'm in the 8-8.5/10 crowd. I was impressed that such potentially campy material was handled as well as it was. The more natural integration of shield and other Marvel elements was a nice treat as well. I have a few complaints about pacing and Thor's arc (like many others), but I left the movie with my father--who knows little to nothing about comic books--satisfied and eager to see Captain America.

Well said my friend.

i just got back was really enjoyed it. I thought it started off alittle weird as it threw you into the universe quickly but it started to even out. Some of Thors lines during the ice giant fight were a bit cringe worthy, as well as certain ones throughout the movie. But i like the character arcs and all the marvel references. Hemsworth became Thor in this movie and was perfectly cast. But the stand out for me was Loki who you really did feel sorry for. The actor was overacting a bit much in the final battle, but still, he to me was the stand out character. I think I see how all the threads are tieing together for Avengers and it has me excited.

Thor Review

The mythological god finally makes it from the comic books to the big screen. When Thor (Played by Chris Hemsworth) disturbs the peace between Asgard and the other realms, he is punished by his father, Odin (Sir Anthony Hopkins). His punishment is banishment from Asgard and is sent to Earth. With the help of Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) and her colleagues, Thor must learn his lesson, and to rid of his arrogant and uncontrollable behavior. Meanwhile, Asgard is at threat as Odin is ill, and can no longer take the thrown, leaving the god of mischief, Loki (Tom Hiddleston) to lead. Thor must learn his lesson, and become worthy to wield the all mighty hammer of Thor, to save the fate of Earth and Asgard from his evil brother Loki.

Story: A great achievement of Thor is how the movie portrayed the character. The flaw with several superhero movies is the origin movie. It worked when Spider-Man and Batman Begins came out, but after seven or ten more of them, the origin storyline becomes old really fast. What Thor does, is give the audience a brief origin of the character, and then sets the viewers in the world of Asgard, allowing them to just accept things the way they were, and that method worked well. The story is simple, but the other components of the movie made it successful, and allowed such a simple story to be extremely impacting. Despite the weakness of the story, the character development, character portrayals, and the transitions between Asgard and Earth made up for it.

Acting: One of the strengths of Thor are the actors and actresses in it. As always, Portman and Hopkins give great performances, however, it was Hemsworth and Hiddleston that stole the show. As RDJ was Tony Stark, Chris Hemsworth looks like Thor, acts like Thor, and is Thor. Tom Hiddleston’s performance is possibly one of the best if not the best performance of a villain in any Marvel movie. The emotional and psychological depth Hiddleston brought for the character was spot on, and was very sleek. All in all, the performances were outstanding in this movie.

See it? Rent it? or Ditch it? : Thor is everything a Thor fan would want to see in a movie about the iconic comic book hero. Director Kenneth Branagh does an exceptional job with the character, and achieved bringing possibly one of the most difficult comic book character to film. At times the movie seems silly, but the reason it works, is because the film itself knows it’s silly. The only complaint I have is the after the credits scene. Out of all the Avenger build ups in the Marvel films, this one was lame, and not as impacting for me. Thor is an action packed, funny (with unforced humor), and a great escapism for viewers. The first blockbuster of this Summer blood bath is a hit, which hopefully is a good sign. Although Thor may not get the praise from the GA that Iron Man did, I really hope they give it a chance, for it is an entertaining and successful comic book film. See it.

Saw it! It was awesome! Not "Epic" like some have said...it fell slightly short of that. Possibly my disappointment in the short fight with Destroyer. but it was definitely a big production with great fx and great acting.

I think my least favorite thing about the entire movie was when sif and the warriors three showed up to earth. it reminded me of masters of the universe '87..no joke. Like i kind of cringed a little.

Hiddleston as Loki was great. Hemsworth was great they just didn't give us enough thor on earth moments, be them funny or humiliating and humbling for him...that was the best part of the banishment portion of the movie. That said...it could have been a tad longer.

all the acting was great...it enhanced the movie...like it should in the first place but in this day and age the fx are the main stars but here you've got both and it was great.

I hope good word of mouth will help push this movie to higher success because it deserves it. Can't wait to see it again...maybe I'll give IMAX 3D a shot...because after seeing the movie I started to regret seeing it in 2D

Probably my favorite cast of all the superhero films. I said that from day one.

I very much enjoyed THOR, great cast, costumes, sets and effects. Good story and dialogue too..nothing too fancy, but it was smart.

I liked the balance of Norse legends, Marvel lore and slight echoes of Shakespeare in there as well. Appropriate, since Branagh is the man ruling it.

So yeah, I was quite pleased. 8 of 10.

Thanks for taking the time to read it Vartha! I'm really glad I enjoyed the movie!
