prolly my favorite mavel movie so far. the CGI was alright and he spent too much time in flannel shirts but it didnt bother me that much.

One of my friends brought up how Thor spawned on Earth the clothing he had. Odin having a nice taste of banishment attire lol.

"Would have been better if Thor appeared on Earth naked"- one of my friends

I loved that Jeremy Renner actually made an appearance in the movie.

Me too! I had no idea he was going to be in the movie, so that was a pretty cool surprise.

I have to say, this movie has me even more psyched for Captain America and the Avengers next summer, since this movie was so much fun.

This was a good, solid fun movie. I'll probably be mimicking the Shakespearean talk by the Asgardians.

My worries about the jump between Asgard and Earth were unnecessary, as it was done well. I'm still debating on whether this was better than Iron Man or not. It definitely had a stronger third act. I was surprised at how much humor was in the movie, but it didn't take away from it.

An excellent way to kick off the summer of comic book films.

Loved the movie! It was one of those movies where I walked in expecting it to be average. Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston made the movie for me. They were just amazing! The audience reaction was great as well and everyone stayed for the after credits scene :awesome:

Agreed, those guys have made careers for themselves after this movie. I'll be interested to see other rolls the come about from this for those two.

I just came back from seeing in in IMAX 3D. I didn't think there was anything wrong with the 3D. If you're looking for things to come out at you, then no, there really isn't any of that. But if you're looking for a conservative, tasteful use of 3D to add a subtle depth, then I think it works great. I, myself was impressed with the use of the 3D, and how at times I forgot I was watching a 3D movie, only to be blown away by it a scene later. I say see it in 3D.

Maybe in Imax, but the the real d 3d version was hit and miss. Anytime there was a static shot without movement it was pretty good for a post conversion, there was lots of depth and a couple of very notable awesome shots. But once the action kicked in it was pretty muddled. I wouldnt complain if I hadnt seen it in 2d and the action was clear as day and much more awesome, that is my only real complaint about the 3d conversion.

You have to see the 3D to appreciate the Asgard scenes. I've seen both versions, and the opening bit where you come to the underside of asgard, come up through the water and then to the flyover. It's absolutely breath taking in 3D.

Hey Guys ... Just got back from seeing Thor and it was AWESOME !!
I will give a gerneral review then go into details , first off The casting was spot on .
Warriors Three : loved the interaction with each other and the personalites of all of them , hopefully we will see more of them in a sequel .
Sif : was great too , kicked some ass in the battles she was in. on a note
loved when they showed up on earth and pressed their faces to the glass lol and you can tell sif loves thor ... you can see it in her face.
Jane: I liked her and her relationship with thor , it was not too overdone but sweet . Loved the chemistry between them she is a good match I think , and enjoyed her character ...as for the other scientiest I felt darcy was great with the humor she brought but the best was erik. He brought a fatherly presence to the scenes not to mention
I almost died laughing when he and thor went drinking and thor brings him back to the trailer
finally
Thor : he starting out as full of himself but you cant help but like him , chris did a great job in pulling that off . Also the emotional scenes was well done , spot on . You really felt for him , when he realizes he was wrong .
best of all
Loki : My GOD tom was fantastic , he didnt need to say a word but you knew how he felt . the scene when
he finds out that he is a frost giant ,He really did feel betrayed and what he said made sense odin never intended for him to take the throne ,so in a way loki was right and when he was watching the destroyer there was a moment when it seemed like he was going to turn back you can see the confict in his face just awesome, as well as when he changed into a frost giant holy **** . ****ing love the scene when he is talking to laufey though, that little grin on his face :hrt:
great and heartwrenching scenes the fact he has tears in his eyes at one point was unreal .. wish there could have been more.. he was fantastic in the battles , this guy is loki .and
holy **** the end scene at the end of the credits is like :wow:
odin : great job by anthony hopkins , cant picture anyone else doing that role . Laufey was scary and threating you can see
where loki gets it from ... like father like son

I give it a 8/10 fantastic movie really enjoyable to watch . will see a second time lol ... here is some things I wished happened

that loki never told laufey who he was , not only that but the fact he didnt tell thor who he was he just said that he is not his brother .. I would have loved to see thor's reaction to it .considering he wanted to wipe out the frost giants
also I wish there had to been a fight between loki and heimdall , have him battle him a bit but he did really well against thor

thats all for now .. its late lol ..bring on the avengers

saw it again and just had two minor quibbles...I would have liked for Thor to use more lightning...and the Hawkeye scene, while kool, was pointless

Please explain to me what is pointless?

I've heard this repeatedly throughout opinions on this board and I can't find one valid reason for it. If it was some random actor who's character name was Anderson it would've been just fine. The fact that it was Renner portraying Hawkeye suddenly it doesn't fit and is pointless. It's absurd to be quite honest with you.

What wouldn't somebody like about that cameo? He was the eye in the sky. He had fun lines like "You better hurry, I'm starting to root for this guy!" Even Coulson's follow up of "No I wanna see this" was fun. The whole thing fit perfectly ..... I just don't get it with some of you.

AGREED! I don't see what was so distracting about it. It is a few seconds, and if it had been random agent, no one would say crap! At least here, it is a cool easter egg to us fans. People who hate it can honestly ignore it! It's not that big.

Loki by far is the best Marvel Studios villain. He was much more multi-dimensional than the others. [BLACKOUT]Yes, he wanted to become King, but he wanted to become king with the best of intentions. He just thought that Thor would be a bad king because he was agressive.[/BLACKOUT]

[BLACKOUT]And after finding out he was a frost giant, he only pulled off that plan to destroy the frost giants in order to prove he would be a better king than Thor, going as far as trying to murder his brother. With Branagh's Shakespearian approach, Loki is the tragic character of this film, and seeing how far he has fallen will be interesting in The Avengers. [/BLACKOUT]

Truthfully it was even longer than few seconds. I was actually surprised at how long the cameo was. Every time I kept thinking that his cameo was over, he kept getting another line in.

That, and I feel because Loki sees being a Frost Giant as the explanation for why Thor was chosen over him by Odin all these years, t was the "why" he was looking for, he sought to prove he is NOT a Frost Giant, but a true Asgardian, he sought to destroy his own kind. Show he is truly Asgardian and better than Thor.

It was great and very layered.

It was no more dialogue than any other soldier may have gotten in the same position.

THOR opened SUMMER 2011 OF WITH A COLOSSAL BIG BANG.

I'm truly impressed by how director Kenneth Branagh managed to bring Thor out from the pages of the comic book panel and unto the big screen so perfectly.

Firstly the casting for this film was stealer Chris is THE GOD OF THUNDER, Tom is without a doubt Loki, God of Mischief, Anthony is Odin and Natalie is Jane foster.

The music had both an operatic feeling to it as well as strong presence that felt very mystic and not overbearing.

The storyline was solid with some very powerful themes that drove the story forward right to the end and at no time did it feel forced or out of place. I also liked how the comedy was placed at just the right moments without overkill like in "Iron Man 2" or the "Transformers films".

The action was clear and very detailed.

Their were so many easter egges and nods to Thor's mythology as well as The Avengers and the previous movies (Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk and Iron Man II)

The lead up to The Avengers was an awesome tease .

Easily The Best film from Marvel Studios so far

Can't wait for CAPTAIN AMERICA

9/10 :thor:

I have to agree with you here. His appearance fit fine within the flow of the movie. If it were just some nameless SHIELD agent, no one would be complaining that it was pointless.

I actually thought that Barton's reaction to Thor fighting his way to the hammer and Coulson's curiosity about what would happen were extremely effective and added a lot to that whole sequence. Far from pointless.

No doubt man. It actually got me really rev'd up for Clint Barton when prior I really could've cared less. Renner is obviously going to bring some moxy to the part for the Avengers.

Thank you Armond, for confirming that this is a good movie.

Just got back from seeing it.
I saw it with my friends gf who isnt a comic nerd, but we both enjoyed it.

Positives:
+Costumes, SFX, Music were all great and fit the Thor style.
+ Hiddleston as Loki , prolly the best MArvel villain in performance, Equal to Ian Mckellen as Magneto. A sympathetic villain with believable motives is always better than a snidely whiplash type.
+ The jokes were funny but not gross/juvenile. Michael Bay should take notes from the Thor team.
+ Helmsworth was very likeable and his transition to a true hero was believable IMO
+ Warriors three/Sif were cool
+ Hardly any campiness.I was afraid with all the fantasy elements , that it oculd have been cheesy, but it wasnt.

Negatives:
-The ending battle seemed a bit too short.
-The helmet was only in like one scene ( I know why, but I wish it had been used more)
- Frigga felt like a cameo. I wish she had more to do.
- I wish the Warriors Three had more screentime/fighting.

Overall, it was solid film
8/10
