Thor turned out far far better then I expected. I'm not sure who was cutting those trailers but god they did a mediocre job. Thor turned out pretty good and certainly a good adaption of the character to the big screen. I gotta say that ASGARD was done extremely well. It was very good to the point that I wanted the Earth scenes to just be over. I just loved everything about it. The acting and characters were all done good. Both Hemsworth and Hiddleson did excellent jobs. Marvel nailed it with these two. They were the best parts of the movie, as they should be. Hopkins as Odin felt regal, great job. Elba as Heimdell was another pleasant performance. I know some complained about the race change but maybe it may be possible that he was actually cast cause he's a good actor and they saw that he would give a solid performance. The action was good and well done, and Thor actually flew, which I didn't expect. The fx was good mostly although some of the cgi was a little shoddy in a scene or two but impressive for the most part. Not sure where 150 mil was spent but hey. Oh Foster, Darcy, Dr Selvig, and Shield
was fine and worked for the film. Some complained about the climax being to short, I didn't
see that. I thought it was well done.

Their was a few problems I had with Thor, but nothing overly major. I wish Mjolnir was used more, the Destroyer was taken down to easily and quickly but then it wasn't the climax so I can forgive it. The earthbound scenes while needed dragged a bit but i think more creative writing was needed when it came to those scenes, they could've been made
more interesting. Probably my biggest problem or plothole was that after the Bifrost was destroyed Thor is sitting around feeling that he's stuck there or that he can't get back to Earth. Isn't Mjlonir capable of creating portals thru space and time and take him anywhere he wants? I'm really hoping that Odin hasn't told him that he can use Mjlonir to do that. Those are my complaints but they didn't ruin the film for me. Overall a very solid flick.

Spoiler.........
Hawkeye showing up was a nice touch. And Loki at the end eyeing the Cosmic Cube was one as well.

Don't see in 3D. The 3D wasn't needed and the conversion is not so good to me. I had to see it twice because of the 3d. The 2D showing looks much better, especially the battle with the Frost Giants.

I honestly find Thor to be one of the harder films to nitpick because it does a lot of the little things right.

Well said! Even the changes made served to adapt it for the big screen.

Fox needs to watch this and take notes on how you make changes for the sake of adapting a comic that has run for decades to the big screen and not the BS changes they make with Xmen that make no freaking sense what so ever.

Question for those of you that are Thor experts and have been following this movie more closely than I have...

I kept waiting for Thor to put his helmet back on, but he never did. Anyone know the reason for this? Does he rarely wear his helmet in the comics? Or did Branagh just decide it looked silly and only used it for one scene? I thought it was pretty cool, personally.

I think it's just like why Spider-Man couldn't keep his mask on in his movies; more face time for the lead actor.

Well, I understand that, but... the helmet doesn't cover his face.

Thor in the 616 universe or Marvel's main universe always wears it. In the Ultimate universe he doesn't. Marvel's films while not based on one universe seem to be more tied with the Ultimate one. Sam Jackson's character is black in the Ultimate universe so I'm going to assume that the movies steer closer to that one. So don't expect Thor to wear his helmet.

The Hemet did look good though. Thor should've had it on when he got his power back.

IMO, I just thought he looked better without the helmet on.

Only because he had the beard. The rest was 616.

And he even had the beard in the 616 comics from time to time.

Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury is the only real Ultimate influence so far. Iron Man was pure 616, Hulk was the TV show mixed with 616. Captain America is mainly 616 as well.

I agree. Loki's helmet looked awesome on and added to his character, but I thought that Thor fighting with this movie helmet on would've looked pretty silly.

WOAH WTF!? I just realized that Hogun was played by the same actor who did Kakihara in Ichi the Killer. That is pretty freaking sweet and makes me wish he had facial hair even more now.

Hawkeye and Black Widow as SHIELD agents is Ultimate, too.

Actually, Thor was pretty much 616, except for the helmet and the beard and those weren't necessarily because of the Ultimate universe.

I realized when I was leaving the theatre that Thor wore his helmet for about six seconds in the whole movie. Too bad.

In the film the helmet acts not so much as armor but as a crown. He only wears it during ceremonial events and when he is on the throne. Notice the other characters only wear their crowns during these events. It makes sense, because on Asgard they are not superheros who wear masks or costumes. They are kings who have crowns.

I'd say it was for the better that Thor didn't wear his helmet for most of the movie. He looked better on screen aesthetically without it.

Also, there's a good chance that Thor's gonna wear his helmet ALOT more often in the Avengers and Thor 2 and 3.

I wouldn't count on it though. I just think he looks better without the helmet.
