MJ dated or liked 4 guyd in the first film . Too much silly stuff there
The Spiderman films overplayed the angst to the point where the audience cheered when Peter slapped her . Now partly that is the writing and partly Dunst can't act .
She dated 2 other guys in the first movie. And I dont really see how it is "silly stuff" or really how it was bad for the MJ character
And I dont think that it was all the films that played up the angst to the point the audience cheered (which I didnt experience) as much as it was just the 3rd one when MJ was pissed at Peter for no reason (and of course her action in the last act of the 2nd movie) .
BUt even with all that the story at least made more sense to me because it had history. Peter liked her for a long time and after they got to know each other more she started to like him too. And after dating Harry and Flash who didn't treat her right, she wanted a nice guy like Peter.
In Thor, the relationship was just forced. Jones mentioned how he doesnt get how people find it to be unrealistic that someone could fall in love with Natalie Portman in such a short span of time. I mean if I wake up and Natalie Portman was there I would definetly wanna get with her, but there wasnt anything interesting about her character that I saw or at least nothing seemingly interesting enough that Thor would fall in love, not just wanna bang, Jane over Sif (who is pretty much perfect for him) or another Asgardian.
But for me comparing MJ/Peter in the movies to Thor/Jane in the movies is just a matter of picking the best of 2 evils. Neither was that good to me.
