The blow up by that poster I just banned?
really?
I thought something was missing....
The blow up by that poster I just banned?
Yes, and Routh's publicist and Warners paid for every one of those spreads. It is a spread in a magazine. Routh did the same thing.
This is a poor argument, IMHO. If you don't like him, that's fine. But saying he has only one expression is silly. The role of Clark Kent on SV requires him to act and hold himself a certain way. It's a very simplistic state of being. This has been confirmed through countless interviews and commentaries. But Welling has been given the opportunity to stretch his strait-faced Clark demeanor in out of character, non Clark-esque portrayals. His Bizarro and Red K Clark moments have been particularly memorable for fans.Welling has exactly one expression; I'd describe it as "mild distress." No matter what the scene calls for--happiness, anger, sadness--Welling is always just mildly distressed.

It's all about exposure and building buzz/popularity, which is something Routh and SR needed at the time. SV is at the end of its run; Welling's publicist probably advised him to re-kindle his buzz. Welling is notorious for shunning publicity and staying out of the public eye - or at least attempting to. He hasn't done a spread like the one in Vogue in years, but he's using SV as a springboard. It's a smart move, IMHO. How much of that relates to JL, Superman, or any career aspirations he may or may not be shooting for is debatable. But if he wanted to detach himself from the superhero typecast, he wouldn't have agreed to a spread about superheroes, which is completely detached from whatever may be required per his CW contract. Since there are a great many people who still believe Welling has no interest in playing Superman in a future endeavor, this is indeed something to ponder.
um, which blow up?Well that was interesting.
That's my point. He is notoriously trying to avoid any kind of publicity and protect his privacy and it has been said that he is afraid of being typecast. So why this particular spread which brings hm back to what he is supposedly not all that hot about? But if he wanted to detach himself from the superhero typecast, he wouldn't have agreed to a spread about superheroes, which is completely detached from whatever may be required per his CW contract. I know I'm stretching here, believe me I do, but I still have a glimmer of hope and I'm going to hold on to it till the official announcement.
Is it possible that the WB allowed this photo shoot to happen to test the waters?
I mean, why would TW shoot a spread like that? His modeling days are long gone, so why would he model clothes? It is not like it's an interview and those are the pics that come with it.
Nobody will comment on how the article came about or why it's content is what it is. In addition to this, I had come up with an odd coincidence that I questioned and again nobody will comment.
1. Recent articles concerning Megan Gale have her set to be on the "Canadian set" for Justice League soon.
2. Nobody mentions DJ Cotrona anymore as being part of JLA.
3. The most recent rumblings and a quote by fight choreographer Richard Norton that shooting will be delayed until the end of the year.
Put it together....JLA is moving to Canada (where Smallville films), nobody is cast for Superman, and filming will begin during Smallville season 8 hiatus.
Nobody. Period. I haven't found a single person I know who could have knowledge of this that will tell me anything about it. They just changed the subject or said they couldn't comment. And Welling's people still haven't changed their position either. Still no comment.
As for casting in JLA, WB sources still say that nobody is under contract at all, but the film is moving ahead this year sometime. No specific date or location given.
Richard Norton said "the end of the year" and I've heard the week after Thanksgiving as far as shooting. This puts it right at the point when Smallville would go on mid-season hiatus. If there is a Canadian set as mentioned in the articles about Gale, I'd say that's just too big of a coincidence for me to swallow.
I'm not trying to stir the pot and get people jumping out of their seats, but you have to admit it looks really suspicious.

don't get me wrong, I love Tom, seriously- I LOVE him, but I'm scared that the majority of the movie viewing population (which are not avid comicbook readers, unfortunately) wouldn't be able to seperate Tom Welling from Smallville, from Tom Welling in the JL movie.
They would be like, "Where's Chloe?" and "Where's Lana?" and "That's not Aquaman!"
People are dumb...seriously, they are dumb.
And with its failing popularity and ratings because of the direction and the storylines, I doubt many viewers would even want the movie to associate with what has been happening in "Smallville".Smallville isn't that big of a show. Chances are that most of the movie viewing population haven't even seen it.
That's not true. Here are the ratings for season 7, only 2 episodes (Bizzaro & CUre) were above 5million viewers final ratings, the rest barely made it to 4.5 with the SD+7 DVR ratings.actually its rating has been pretty stable and with the dvr + countings pretty much every episode this season has been 5 million viewers and it is the top rated scripted show for CW but yea not as big as the other networks and all that but it does have its followers.
