Well It IS very very likely we will get X4.We know there Is a story IDea that Fox likes for X4 and X5.The question Is how much If any will The Last Stand be referenced.Especilly
If it was bryan Singer who came up with the story Idea and ends up directing(after jack The Giant Killer Is out next June he doesn't have any immedate projects lineup)

For the first time since X2 I will be as soon as First Class hits DVD quickly getting It.

Inless for some reason there Is past flashback at beging the only actors from First Class
would be brought back are Nicholas Hoult and Jennifer LAwrence If Beast and Mystique
are Included(and they could easily get away with them In Makeup doing the characters)
If Emma Frost Is In film she will obviously be recast as older woman.

I want the old cast back no matter what, especially Rogue and Cyclops because they got shafted in X3 because of scheduling.

Since Beast created the serum that enhanced his mutation, perhaps Beast will create one again for Raven, or she might have even kept the one Hank gave her in FC, who knows.. that would be a cool nod to FC. I really like how FC opened up a lot of pathways for post X3 movies to work with. The cure may also be temporary but Magneto is a class 4 mutant so maybe that's why his powers might come back on its own.

Well, I reckon that she'd inject herself with Beast's serum (that sounds like it could've been taken another way than intended... :oldrazz:) in the sequel because if Beast is already acrobatic and agile enough, that means Mystique would adopt his style, just like Beast had taken her 'blueness.' It makes perfect sense to me, particularly if she felt she wanted to be more of a fighter and probably would take it for that reason.

Pretty good hold this weekend for First Class. It is tracking pretty closely to the first X-Men's run, which ended up at $157m domestic. Hopefully First Class can keep pace over the coming weeks and reach a similar total.

Because X-Men: First Class is far better than TIH.

The box office comparisons may be valid, but the reasons for the box office aren't the same.

Well..to some. I actually think they're pretty equal. Seriously flawed films that still manage to be good over-all.

Well If estimates hold Super 8 did better than expected at 37 Million for the weekend.
While First Class got a 57 percent dropoff and did 25 Million for a 10 day total of 99
Million.Let's hope this holds.Sometime during the week it should hit 100 million. It would
be better If It hit 100 Million this weekend. But dropping this badly against Super 8 means
It will get almost certainly get killed by Green Lantern next weekend. And will probally start disappearing from Theatres when Transformers hits.It may not even get to the 140 Million It cost to make it In DOmestic Box Office.

It IS pointless to discuss a First Class sequel. It's not happening.X4 probally yes.But not first Class sequel. If First Class can do 2 Million on a weekday this week and makes 15 Million next weekend that will be good.

I liked TIH, but the friends i saw it with were not impressed. They still found the CGI to be too cartoonish. Also, the final showdown with Abomination was great for fanboys (I loved it) but didn't go down well in mainstream reviews.

FC still has the possibility of a repreave from DVD in the event that it fails to earn enough theatrically to justify a sequel. Not saying that's guaranteed to happen but there's a chance. I know some films have gotten sequels because they blew up on DVD.

All this doom and gloom reminds me of the Thor forums about a month ago.

I don't remember doom & gloom in the Thor box office thread, except by some who were bad at math.

If G.I Joe and Wolverine can make $70 million on DVD/Blu-ray First Class shouldn't have any problems beating that.

Every time I went into that thread I saw people with their heads falling off about the films numbers. :wow:

If it can make $100M on DVD, that should be enough to push a sequel. Not sure how likely that is though.

What? That the film earnings were bad?

It did pretty well, propped up by 3D, IMAX and non-competititve second weekend, along with the fact that it's not necessarily aiming for a solo sequel because Thor will be in the Avengers next year anyway.

Just the one's who were bad at math or thought it needed something ridiculous like 2.5-3X the budget WW to just break even. Most knew it was doing well even before it opened domestically.

Thor Is going to top Wolverine's domestic gross. It may fail to get 200 Million domesticly
but has better chances for a solo sequel than there Is a first Class sequel. If Robert Downey JR Leaves the avengers franchise after Iron Man 3 they may need Thor If Captain America Underperforms.

Nah. Most knew the numbers were OK.
As Kedrell said - a few thought it needed +-3x the budget to warrant a sequel.

Super 8 held a comfortable lead over 20th Century Fox’s X-Men: First Class, which grossed $25 million in its second weekend for a cume of $98.9 million. The prequel fell 55%--the second best hold for any X-Men pic besides X2: X-Men United.

“It’s a high quality original film, and has great playability,” Fox senior vice president of domestic distribution Chris Aronson.

Overseas, First Class grossed $42.2 million for a cume of $124.2 million and worldwide total of $222.5 million.

Next stop, $300 million?

thanks Electrix!!

I think the 300M will come with the next two weeks.

Domestically it may do about the same as X1, but WW will be much higher. (X1 did just under $300m).

At $140 million budget, $222m WW is pretty ok after one week. Nothing amazing, but nothing terrible like some would suggest.

Super 8 and Green Lantern don't open in many international territories or another month or two, so First Class should have another solid weekend next week.

They are already dropping from first estimates. The only good news to take away from this weekend Is the Hold Is second best In Franchise.

I don't know If It can get to 300 Million worldwide.Green Lantern will have a good opening weekend without a doudt although it could drop big after that.

Inless I hear a recent quote from Fox or Lauren Shuller Donner saying otherwise I am assuming there won't be a first Class sequel.

It frustrates me that Thor which Is far less a film than First Class did so well and other films you couldn't pay me to see(Like Super 8 and Transformers) may end up with better grosses than First CLass(although to be fair super 8 probally won't get to 100 Million
but Transformers ever after the crap that was Revenge of the Fallen may hit 300 Million
domesticlly)

The people who are saying that it's doing terrible or great are lying to themselves. That drop isn't bad but it has about a 90% chance of another over 50% drop because of GL next weekend.

Thats whats going to kill it IMHO because it needs a 40% drop next weekend to succeed in any meaningful way.

As for Super 8, it did well for a movie with a 50million dollar budget but I believe the actuals will be lower for it and X-Men for that matter. First Class is doing good for an X-Men movie overseas though.
