Comics The Official X-Men Stupid Question Thread!!!

Okay, When was this stated? Abyss sucked up Mystique in the X-Corps storyline, then released her durring the Draco. After that she started working for Xavier in her own comic. I don't remember any mention (nor need) for there being a fake mystique.

I got the following plot summary for Mystique #2 from uncannyxmen.net:

...Mystique angrily reminds him that she got a presidential pardon for any past “crimes” she committed, when she agreed to help the government capture Magneto. To underscore her point, she turns into the master of magnetism. Unimpressed, Kitano tells her the look suits her. After all, she is an extremist lunatic like Magneto was. Her service to the country didn’t change that. And, of course, she eventually violated the terms of her pardon when she resumed her outlaw activities, when she blew up buildings and assassinated innocents. Mystique protests that that is a lie. She may not be a saint, but she never killed anybody who wasn’t trying to do the same thing to her kind.

It sure looks like her on the hours of surveillance tape they have, Kitano remarks caustically. Mystique argues that she can change her shape in the blink of an eye. Why would she look like herself when doing something illegal? There are so many shape-shifters, illusionists and masters of disguise around. Somebody has probably been impersonating her for the last few months and has been framing her.

it says the last few months...so i assume she also meant the events in the X-Corps arc.

^ of course we can't disregard the fact that Mystique was prob lying then...

yeah, what would be the point of saying it was someone else, the continuity fits perfectly, not questions needed to be asked or fixed.

you can't disregard anything that comes out of her mouth as a truth or a lie

1. How often do Marvel shake up the X teams?

2. Why do some comics have two issues out in one month (Gambit) and others only have one (Nightcrawler)?

1. Other than adding a left-out member here and there, they've stayed pretty similar over the last 3 years or so (Reload only slightly altered the groups). It seems like the 3 current teams are going to stick together for awhile.

2. It's usually just a promotional thing. Most X-books are monthly. Once in a great while they'll actually put out 2.

I should of phrased it as "for a character as powerful as he was, he was written fairly lame."
OK, I get it. I personally don't care that much about Styfe one way or the other. I liked the X-Cutioner's Song crossover a lot, but mainly because I enjoyed the battles between X-Force and the other X-Teams, not because of any great interest in Stryfe. Plus it had some memorable moments for some of my favorite X-Villains, like Sinister (not being phased by having a big hole blasted through his head) and Apocalypse ("Six X-Men in under sixty seconds").

I don't think there was much explanation of why the Legacy Virus Cure had to be injected into a living mutant. The idea of Colossus sacrificing himself to end the disease that had taken the life of his sister was rather moving, but the "scientific" explanation was pretty much glossed over. Which doesn't particularly surprise me, I guess.

Actually, it's more of a result of Marvel dropping Annual issues altogether and going with a 13th issue a year...of course, it grew to have a 14th and a 15th and a...

Anyways, i actually liked the stunt that Marvel did for the final year for the Annuals when they came up with the Marvelscope (?) where the issue was turned sideways.

It's more of a question of why Xavier would hire Mystique as an agent for the good guys when she did all those criminal acts...so they went with "it wasn't me"

Who is this Phoenix character that i've heard so much about? Is it a mutant bird?

Would the "cure"(Astonishing X-Men}for Cyclops be laser surgery?

How does Wolverine take a lickin' but keeps on tickin'?

Why does Gambit use playing cards instead of a kinetically charged SUV?

Has Cable gotten weaker over the years cause I remember him carrying some big friggin' guns,HUGE!!!

Will Blink ever come back?

Will Proteus ever come back?

WHERE IN THE WORLD IS LOCKHEED??!!!??

Phoenix is Jean Grey aka the original Marvel Girl

No because as soon as they opened his eyelids, they would get blasted.

Overhyped mutant healing factor

He can charge a SUV, it would take forever and unlike Colossus could never lift it to throw it.

He uses guns alot less than he used to. Remember Guns kill, X-Men don't (with the exception of Wolvy)

Blink comes back every month in Exiles

Maybe, maybe not. Proteus is a Marvel character and we all know they never stay dead, unless your Bucky or Thunderbird.

Lockheed is in Astonishing with Shadowcat, where he belongs.

1. How many solo titles has Sabretooth had?

2. Has Venom ever met the X-Men apart from when Wolverine made an apperance in the Venom series?

3. Is Juggernaut even a mutant? I thought he got all his powers from a stone so why is he a part of the X-Men?

4. What is the actual history between Wolverine and Sabretooth?

5. When was the first apperances of these characters: Sabretooth, Gambit, Rogue, Joseph, Wolverine and Juggernaut?

6. What did they do in their first apperance?

1. As far as i can recall, just a couple of mini-series, never an ongoing.
2. Not that i can recall
3. Nope not a mutant.
4. They were both members of Weapon X, both seem to have a long history of secret service time between them, the rest is really to be determined.
5. Sabertooth - Iron Fist #14. Gambit - Uncanny X-Men #266. Rogue - Avengers Annual #10. Joseph - X-Men #46. Wolverine - Incredible Hulk # 180. Juggernaut - Uncanny X-Men #12.

6. I suggest you get them and read them. what's the fun in telling you. Though i will say, find the trade for Uncanny X #12, getting a good copy will cost ya.

In laymans terms could someone explain the third Summers Brother thing for me. Everyone has said Gambit but it appears as speculation. Has Marvel dropped the idea and if not when did the you know what hit the fan? :cyclops:

His name was Adam the X-Treme. He was the son of the Shi'Ar Emperor D'Ken and Kate Summers, Scott and Alex's mother. I think he's dead now. The Gambit bull is mindless fanboy geekgasm drivel spread about by the likes of people such as Sliptream_Summers.

"Third Summers brother" rumor started because Sinister said "your brothers" to Scott once, instead of saying "your brother." It was never actually stated that the third brother was named "Summers." If he's the son of Cyclops's mother and a different father, then his name wouldn't be Summers.

The Gambit rumor started because (1) Gambit has some connection to Sinister (at least, Gambit was partially involved in the massacre of the Morlocks, (2) Gambit is an orphan who doesn't know who his real parents are, (3) Gambit looks a little like Scott (but not like Alex), and (4) Gambit has red eyes (which is a dumb reason, because Scott's eyes are actually brown, his power is red).

At any rate, there's no real reason to think the third brother was Gambit. It was meant to be X-Treme, but since this was never explicitly said in the comics (so far as I remember), I suppose they could still change their mind and say it's someone else.

Anyway, here's some more info: http://www.uncannyxmen.net/db/article/showquestion.asp?faq=4&fldAuto=67

I've got a couple myself...

How do you pronounce "Xorn"? Is the "X" a "Z" sound?

How old are the X-Men supposed to be nowadays? Kitty Pryde was referred to as "young" in Astonishing X-Men #4, so she couldn't really be older than late 20's/early 30's, but the older original members (Cyke, Beast) have gotta be ATLEAST mid-thirties by now

I'm pretty sure it's a "Z" sound.

I wanna say Kitty is early to mid 20's, while the rest of the team is probably early thirties.

I've been pronouncing it like a "Z". But given that he's Chinese, it could very well be pronounced "Shorn." I definitely know some Chinese people who have X's in their names that are pronounced like an "sh".

I would have guessed that Kitty's in her early twenties and the rest are in their late twenties. This doesn't really make sense chronologically, since when she was thirteen some of them were already in their early twenties -- meaning a ten year age gap. However, I don't think we can necessarily use that to conclude anything. Comic characters just don't age at a constant rate, or all at the same rate. Different characters seem to age in spurts. Younger characters like Kitty or Jubilee can suddenly get several years older without anyone else being affected. Anyway, the birthdate on Jean's tombstone was 1956 (IIRC), which would imply that all of the original X-Men are at least in their late 40s. Which is clearly wrong, so basically comic book aging is totally bizarre and nonsensical.

I originally thought that most of the original x-men were in their early to mid 30's, and the all new all different were late 20's early 30's. But considering that there was what only a 4 or 5 year difference from Kitty and Peter, it kinda just screws it all up. If Jean was in her late 40's, that really just messes the whole age thing up. And jean was looking major hot for being that old, not that late 40's are old, but hell 1956 makes her just 2years from the big 5 0.

Emma is only 27 so.....id go from there.

I don't know what Grant was thinking with turning Emma into a 27 year old. She was supposed to be older than Scott and Jean, who were roughly 24 when they met Emma (Scott and Jean are basically the same age and Jean's age established in context from a 1956 birthdate correlating to 1980 death), which at the very best scenario would mean the last 24 years have been 2 years in Marvel time, to maintain that Emma was at the very least a year older than Scott and Jean. Also keeping in mind Jean was dead at least 12 months to give Madelyne and Scott 3 months to meet, fall in love, marry and get pregnant and 9 months until the birth of Nate (which happened a day or two before Jean was found in Jamaica Bay), as well as the 6 month gap between Twelve/Revolution, means that everything from Uncanny X-Men 202 up until Revolution all occurred in 6 months. In other words, NEVER apply dates and times to comics that have been around 40+years with characters appearing in issue 1 still being present in the latest issue and never give the characters an exact age.

In what issue did Jean stop going by "Marvel Girl'' and why?

I think it was when she first became Phoenix, because Marvel Girl is a dumb name.

Why does Shadowcat look like she got younger from her appearance in X-Treme X-Men to Astonishing X-Men? I liked Kitty a lot better when she was wearing the black leather outfit.
