The Dark Knight Rises The Opening Sequence.

Who says it has to open with a chase or robbery? I think it should just focus on the story rather than some cool opening scene, thats why I liked BB, it didnt focus on huge epic action scenes as much as TDK

That's super cool.

If they had the budget in Begins then Bruce would have fallen down the well in IMAX

I've got it.

You don't open with Bane's prison break or Catwoman stealing something, or Batman being chased by the police.

You open with all three.

Combine them. Open with Catwoman breaking into a high rise or building, she's trying to loot a safe or something.

Batman catches her in the act, and the chase ensues.

Or you could even open up with Bane's prison break, and then cut to Catwoman stealing something and Batman chasing her.

Then the police arrive and give chase to Batman, giving Catwoman an effective distraction to get away. Illustrating that the police are making it VERY hard for Batman to do his job.

That would be awesome but one of the things I love about Nolans "climax" moments I guess you could call them, like the Hospital collapsing in Inception, Joker crashing the party in Knight etc. is the huge buildup. I would love to see a scene like the one you described but I cant imagine the movie starting off like that.

I don't care if it's the opening sequence, but I certainly hope we get an epic motion sickening IMAX roof top bat & cat chase.
That's definitely been at the top of my action sequence wishlist for this movie since before we even knew we were getting Catwoman. Now that she's confirmed, we simply MUST see this. In IMAX, dammit. It would probably be a new instant favorite of the whole saga for me.

Agreed. Even if Catwoman isn't involved, I would still be VERY happy with a rooftop scene in IMAX. Batman jumping, running, gliding his way across rooftops.

Even if it was...running from cops (which I know he did in Begins), but not like this :)

I dunno, TDK started off with a pretty big bang (literally). You could start the sequence off smaller to build tension, it could definitely work as an opening.

*Bat logo* Then cut to Selina Kyle getting out of the shower.

Bam! There's your opening sequence.

If they're hoping to match the TDK bank heist, good luck! I sure look forward to seeing if they can pull it off.

How about getting into the shower, then a split screen with that going the whole time and then the rest of the movie?

I don't think the opening scene of The Dark Knight can be beaten, but lets hope I'm wrong. If TDKR opening scene can beat that bank robbery then we are in for a treat.

If Nolan (I'm sure he is) and Wally Pfister (whose name makes me snicker immaturely)are of the opinion that it will top The Dark Knight's opening scene, then I'm sure it will.

Sounds suspiciously like Love & Other Drugs. As long as Jake Gyllenhaal doesn't appear with her... it sounds like the only way TDKR can open.

In other news, bat-peeps need to get laid :trans:

Batman Begins had no title sequence.
WB logo, DC Comics logo.
Bats flying across an orange sky, forming the Bat Symbol.

The Dark Knight also had no title sequence.
WB logo, Legendary Pictures logo, DC Comics logo.
A blue inferno, and then the Bat Symbol comes through the fire.

The Dark Knight Rises - No opening title sequence.

We cut to a shot in the clouds. It's nighttime. It's raining hard, and it's dark. A thunderous BOOM of thunder, a CRACK of lightning, and inside the lit-up sky, just for a brief moment, we see a giant Bat Symbol hidden in the clouds.
Cut to opening action scene.

I wouldn't be surprised if the opening sequence is Bane escaping from Peña Duro (or the movie's equivalent). It's hard to say without knowing how much of his story they'll go into. I do think that would have the potential to top the prologue of TDK, though.

I'm thinking that too honestly. I think the only problem that might occur is this situation, is that it might be fairly familiar to Whiplash's in IM2; or at least I can envision people bringing up that fight. You know otherwise, I think it would be very interesting to see a brief little flashback of Bane's life in prison and then making the escape, and then later jump into several days or months later just where after TDK took place, and Batman's still being hunted. :word:

I don't think we're going to get any opening flashbacks of Bane or Catwoman because in BB and TDK the villians already exist as they are and we have no knowledge as to WHY they are the way they are.

We don't see an origin of Ras AL Ghul, Scarecrow, Zsaz, or The Joker so I doubt we'll get anything on Bane or Catwoman.

Ya, but I would want Batman chasing Catwoman but not really show that it is Catwoman, only hints of her, so that later on in the movie we will get the real deal.

It's great that they want to make an impressive opening scene of huge "spectacle", that'll "live up too" or even "surpass" the previous movie... Cool, I guess. But the "Spectacle" part of TDK isn't what I remember as beeing something making the movie what it was/is! The movie is what it is, because of one hell of a story. One hell of a cast. One hell of a great script. oh, and one_hell of a director! Even the music was a character on its own. It's the way it builds it self up, reaching levels higher then ever expected! (98% of us felt this, I'm sure).

Anyway, a huge spectacle in the begining of this movie WON'T make the movie at all. So concentrate on the story and developement please. Spectacle has never been the impressive part of Nolans Bat movies, amazingly so.

STILL, I can't wait to see what they have in store!!! :awesome:

We've focused on characters and plot, what if it's so basic and of cuff: an introduction to the new Wayne Manor and Batcave?

Sure Bane could be there giving a voice over, while we sit a watch Alfred walking about in the new place, maybe carrying a pot of tea and some food, while Bruce is - unmasked - sitting in the new cave researching whatever.

The visual can also bring the new Batmobile - or whatever he is driving - articles of the chase that has occurred while "we've been away." Etc, etc.

I don't care if there is a voice over, or what Bane could be saying - but that COULD be a decent opening sequence.

I'd like a quiet opening. Perhaps Bruce by his parents grave. Not crying or speaking, but just there. A gentle reminder of why he's doing all this. Then it cuts to action in the city.

I'd be very happy with that!

BB already had a quiet opening. Besides, isn't it already confirmed we are getting a slam bang opening according to Wally?

I wouldn't describe BB's as quiet. It felt rather fast and busy to me, not necessarily a bad thing as far as that film went. Wasn't aware of Wally's quote though.
