I don't know if we can throw BB into the discussion. BB was more than just a great film; it was something else entirely.

On point, the entire film was a reboot, origin story, and a - if you will - "please come watch our Batfilm, we swear it won't suck."
The first four/five minutes of BB was no where near TDK. Nolan had to make a mark with the entire film.
I remember when BB aired on HBO. A friend, in which I tried to convince to watch the movie in theaters - finally decided he could watch BB. Minutes after the movie was over, he was on the phone telling me I was right.
I bet Nolan didn't want to put too much time in energy into 'sequences,' as he wanted the film to sway the public from the past.
I know Nolan has "balls." But after BB, he grabbed those suckers and said "let's put a smile on their face."
TDKR - Nolan has more than 'balls.' He has the backing of the WB, fans, and the general public. Unless the trailer bombs, people great grands will be lined up to see this movie.
. . I had a point, but think it got lost in the keyboard.
