Well, in my case it's wishful thinking. Actually I take that back. I only want a young teen Robin, so I don't even want JGL to play him.
If Batman's wanted more than ever and Gotham City is safer place thanks to Dent's prosecution, I think Bruce will lay low as the Dark Knight for a while. So if the movie opens up with a bang, then I think there's a strong possibility the opening for the next movie will be Batman's escape from the GCPD (SWAT?), picking up right off from The Dark Knight.

I was thinking they could do something similar to when Alfred brought Bruce Breakfast to introduce the Batcave. Pretty much the same scene, only instead of a large illuminated bunker Alfred takes the elevator a large dark cave with loads of hi-tech equipment. We see Bruce sitting at the Bat-Computer in full costume completely focused on the monitors. He leaves the tray on a table, pauses then leaves. Neither of them say a word.
You know times are bad when Alfred has nothing to say.
Racking my brain for something that could possibly top a bank robbery...
Oh.
Wait.
Almost anything.

Racking my brain for anything that was wrong with the bank robbery opening of TDK.
Oh.
Wait.
Almost nothing (the acting of the gang members was fairly atrocious).

I can't decide between really wanting to see a grandiose, Catwoman heist scene as the opening sequence or something else. The thing is, if a heist scene were to be the opening sequence, there would be no heist preparation scenes, which would be pretty cool if you ask me.
Who says it has to open with a chase or robbery? I think it should just focus on the story rather than some cool opening scene, thats why I liked BB, it didnt focus on huge epic action scenes as much as TDK
What do you have against Robin? I'm guessing you haven't read that many recent Batman comics, or Dark Victory.
Robin isn't a light hearted character, and his character is a great parallel to Batman's story and could help bring the story full circle.
In Batman Begins: Bruce had Ra's
In TDKR, Batman could take on the Ducard/Ra's role, and mentor Robin.
I'd be surprised if this movie is chronologically in order like the dark knight. I get the feeling we might see bane breaking batman in the opening scene.
