Well I think it is politics and they were eventually going to give him an oscar just didn't expect him to die so early.
Really? That good? I haven't seen it.
I really recommend seeing it. It really deserves all the praise it gets.Really? That good? I haven't seen it.
TDK was ignored as is mandatory by the Academy's tradition. Heath got the Oscar as a postumous homage to his tragic death (and brilliant career also I'd like to think).
When CC says something, it's set in stone as if coming from God.

Seriously, I mean I LOVE TDK. However the film critic in me has to give it to Slumdog which definitly earned its Oscar. This fanaticism towards TDK reminds me of a militant group or something.Oh and people have no right to ***** about a winner unless you've seen ALL the movies in the category, not just TDK.
Most of the people in this thread give Bat-fans a bad name.
Sean Penn I am sorry didn't deserve it. It is politics though, I would believe that there is so much of who knows who when it comes to getting an oscar. In fact they gave him the Oscar as they many times do with talented people: to the right person for the wrong reasons.
I will present DMG with my 15 (drops tablet)....ten! ten commandments for you to all obey! When CC says something, it's set in stone as if coming from God.
...did you see it? It had GREAT cinematography. Practically every shot was beautiful to look at, especially the outside scenery.I was surprised that Wally Pfister didn't win either. Slumdog Millionaire? I don't see what was so special about it.
No, it winning over TRANSFORMERS was a farce. Pirates got it's recognition for Davey Jones already. TF should have gotten that for doing some amazing things with the metal textures and blending it all in some daylight action-packed shots.Button really was supposed to win Best VFX, guys. The aging work that they did on Brad Pitt was astonishing. I mean, it isn't like last year, when Golden Compass won over Pirates. THAT was a down-and-out farce.
Yeah, seriously. I don't have proof, but I have a gut feeling a lot in here hasn't even seen half of the nominees. And this being a batforum, mentioning intense bias isn't even necessary. But I'll mention it anyway.Oh and people have no right to ***** about a winner unless you've seen ALL the movies in the category, not just TDK.

Wow, I really liked TDK but I think Slumdog was a superior movie

Definitely, the way that they captured Mumbai was stunning....did you see it? It had GREAT cinematography. Practically every shot was beautiful to look at, especially the outside scenery.
The first part may be true, but giving out a posthumous acting award is, except for one other time, against the Academy's Tradition
No big surprises here.

Benjamin Button only won techs. So...yeah. At least TDK got one for acting. From which he got the obvious Ledger's homage and what else...? sound editing or some tiny little cathegory like that and nothing else. Way to go.
