The Dark Knight The Penguin Confirmed? Ledger Not Done-Deal? - BOF

And it begins all over again. Doubt is cast on Ledger signing the deal, and immediatley the Bettany vs. Hulme debate resumes. I thought this was all over?

If Ledger doesn't sign that deal, someone else better real soon. I mean, when they break the news that Ledger isn't the Joker, we better hear that Paul Bettany is within the same day. Man, I thought my worries of a hack like Lachy Hulme playing such a great, iconic character were over...

interesting.. yh. hoping 4 news? YEEEEEEEEEAHHHHHHH

So, Ledger hasn´t signed yet? Gee, man, you´re gonna kick yourself in the butt if you turn down this... I was okay with him, but I know some people here are happy to hear this... The Penguin rumor has been going on for a while, no surprise there.

with ledger, it would great if signed up because it will secure his future.

Remember, before Brokeback, Ledger was in a series of bombs for a number of years. This way, he knows for the next couple of years, he'll be connect to a franchise, to keep him in the public eye (just in case if he screws up again)

Hoffman has won an Oscar... he is just too big a name... so throw Hoffman in with Bale... Ledger... Caine.... Freeman... possibly a big name for Dent... maybe a Johansen for Selina Kyle??? 50 million on actors alone... can't be done... WB ain't gonna spend like 250 million for this one... 150-175 max...

I think WB will give Nolan $160m as max, especially after so low numbers of SR.

And I also think Nolan can make brilliant movie with this budget

I think WB love Nolan. I can't so much for Bryan Singer, I'm sorry to say.

If he's reluctant to take it, I don't want him. We need an actor that WANTS this part.

Wow, you go to work for a day, come home and all this news and doubt....

Good point Boom btw. The actor should *really* want to do this.

Agreed with Boom.

But actor should also have a time to think about this.

And maybe he will sign for this role, we need just wait.

how legit is this source? surely SHH would have caught on to this and posted it by now?

BOF? Who knows at this point....Supposedly one of Jett's inside sources. He has been right and wrong in the past.

Love the sig btw. One of my favorite lines from Blade.

This was addressed in another thread.

1)This is BOF's source, not SHH!'s. So why would SHH! confirm it?
2)Until WB announces it, none of this is official. Which would also explain why SHH! didn't confirm it.

interesting indeed!

What is Ledger waiting for? Or is Nolan thinking of maybe someone else in the role, that might be better?

Hoffman would do well as Cobblepot/Penguin....but I would prefer Hoskins.

I want more info on contenders for Dent though!

Im confused it says in Jetts report that the Joker and Penquin are the main villians:confused: I thought he was just there for a cameo.:o

Bob Hoskins would be an awesome Penguin, but maybe he's skeptical about a comic-movie. I know BB appeals to more than comic fans, but lets not forget that little nightmare of a film called *shudders* Super Mario Bros. Not a comic-film, but a travesty nonetheless. Perhaps he just doesn't have any interest....?

Being reluctant doesn't necessarily mean he doesn't want the part. I said it earlier, but all it means is that he is looking objectively at the role. He is being offered the role of one of the most iconic villians of all time after Nicholson, one of the most iconic actors of all time, portrayed him. I would be nervous as hell if I had to step up like that.

There's also other things to consider. Ledger I'm sure knows that this will put a media spotlight on him, something he does not want at all. He is notorious for enjoying his privacy.

It could also just be the fact that the Joker can be one of the hardest and most complicated characters to play if done right. This is by no means an easy task to undertake.

Now with all these factors (and probably a hundred more that I can't think of) I see absolutely no problem with Ledger being a bit nervous about signing for the part and taking some time to think about it. Now, if he is doing this because he doesn't think comic book movies are good enough for him or something like that, then I will agree and say he shouldn't get the part. But if he really thought that and wasn't really interested in the part, then why would he eve meet with Nolan and (most likely) do test screenings or auditions for the role.

What the hell is going on?

I'm out of it for a little while, and everyone gets delusions of grandieur!

I want Hoffmann as The Penguin but mostly I want Hoskins.
