The Dark Knight The Penguin Confirmed? Ledger Not Done-Deal? - BOF

I don't get why...we think if Ledger declines...that instead of re-casting him, WB and Nolan will just go with a different villain? Thats just dumb...there were plenty of great suggestions out there...they should do the Joker with or without Ledger if thats the case.

What are you talking about? No one said anything about not using the Joker. We're simply talking about the Penguin possibly being a second villain.

And yes, multiple villains can work, as seen with Batman Begins. It just about how you write them and how they interact. Poison Ivy and Mr. Freeze have no business teaming up, and their plan was ludicrous. A movie with multiple villains needs to be more than "hey guys! we both hate Batman! lets team up to kill him and destroy Gotham!". I'm sure Nolan will make Penguin and Joker work in the same film just fine, in fact I doubt the villains will even be teaming up. They'll probably both have their own agendas and Batman will deal with them seperatley, perhaps Penguin for the first half of the film, and Joker for the latter half.

Where you going for holiday? anyway I hope Nolan cast Schrieber as Dent.

I was in Lake George.

And yes, I hope Schreiber gets it as well. If not him, then of the rumored candidates John Cusack would be my pick. But I'd prefer Schreiber.

What did Schrieber say in that online interview for The Omen? He said something to the effect of "I'd love to do a Batman move"?

He's my 1st pick, Phoenix is my 2nd.

phoenix won't get it, his preparation style for roles won't suit Nolan's agenda

BOF is confirming Ledger now, where does it say about The Penguin? i dont see anything there.

cuz they're no news on Penguin, as of yet. And im not expecting anything til maybe September.

^^ that's not exactly a confirmation dude.

you've misunderstood me...maybe I misunderstood the thread title...multiple villains can and have always worked...I thought they were saying that if Ledger doesn't take the role of the Joker, than they were going to option doing the Penguin and scrapping the Joker for this sequel and waiting....but...its everywhere...Its pretty much already done...its all over the place that Ledger is gonna do it...the only person who hasn't confirmed it is Ledger himself...Personally I don't want to see the Penguin just yet...I prefer seeing more of the Scarecrow...Harvey Dent/Two Face storyline...and ofcourse the Joker.

What do you mean by that? Is it not a good think that Phoenix puts a lot of work into his characters? I'd think Nolan would, in fact, like that.

I agree with you Brian. Looks at the physical rigors Bale went through between the Machinist and BB.

The only 2 things, which I cant understand are:

Who did say that Ledger is bad choice? Because then why BOF said that one of the reasons why Ledger had doubts were fans

And finally, will Ledger have make-up of Joker?

im sure hell look like th joker; if he doesnt....i mean if he does not have green hair, white make up, and pruple suit, the fans are gonna let nolan have it. big time.

Well he was in re-hab for a few months after walk the line, I'm not sure he or Nolan would feel safe putting him at the mercy of two-face.

I really hope the purple suit will make an appearance. Part of me doubts it, though, but I don't know if that's a warranted worry.

the purple suit will be in there, just a very dark purple, you gotta do it!!!

I don't think it needs to be a dark purple. Nolan probably does, though.

that was quick, I think if it's too bright it'll look silly, we wanna steer away from those story arcs where the joker played practical jokes rather than killing people, have it more like the story where he killed robin and crippled batgirl!
