Agreed. I'm not a big fan of the hood anyway. I like the faceplate better. It's creepier to me.

I like the hood. Face mask reminds me how lame Commander is in the TV show...seriously, a buncha eyes? Belch.

Glad they went with "disfigured" in the movie.

V wasn't threatening to me other as a character, he was only threatening when he had his daggers out as far as I'm concerned. Still a damn good performance from Weaving though.

I'm talking about the emotion conveyed.

I've never like the hood personally, always been a faceplate type of guy, but often in films such as these, they usually alter a character's mask to show the eyes as others have said. Sometimes it works, in the case of Batman I definitely prefer seeing his eyes after TDK showed what clear lenses would look like.

However, I disagree that a faceplate can't be menacing, the less I knew about Darth Vader the scarier he was, black helmet and all. Same goes for the Predator as well, even though his actual face made me s**t my pants as a youngster too

Having torn through the comic-book world like a swarm of ravenous locusts, Hollywood must turn elsewhere for material — toy franchises. It’s no coincidence that G.I. Joe (a bells-and-whistles Action Man who oozes beefed-up patriotism from his plastic pores) shares the same parent company as the Transformers. Hasbro is rapidly becoming a major player in the production of a certain breed of bruising, bombastic action flick.

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra is a macho mess of combat clichés that spits bullets and rains torpedoes. The opening sequence says a lot about the fundamental problem with the movie, ie that it’s deeply stupid and heavily armed. Christopher Eccleston plays James McCullen, the heir to a Scottish arms-dealing dynasty. He has developed a terrifying new weapon. Nanomites are tiny robots that devour in seconds everything from huge metal structures to the human neural system with the same voracious lack of discrimination. The first batch is ready for delivery and Duke (Channing Tatum) and his crack team of soldiers are guarding it. But the convoy is ambushed by a gang of bad guys (led by Sienna Miller’s leather-suited Baroness, coincidentally Duke’s ex-girlfriend) intent on adding the warheads to their arsenal.

So who is G.I. Joe? Confusingly, there is no single G.I. Joe, rather an elite squad of international soldiers known collectively as “the Joes”. Each Joe has a particular skill and a snazzy codename. Thus Snake Eyes is the silent ninja in rubber battle pants and a gimp mask; Breaker is the computer boffin; Heavy Duty deals with large guns and Scarlett’s specialities are science and hair-tossing. Heading the team is General Hawk (Dennis Quaid), an all-American hero. Duke and his comedy sidekick Ripcord (Marlon Wayans) are recruited to join the Joes, to help prevent any further harm coming to the weapons of doom.

It’s not entirely without merit — any film that shows the Eiffel Tower crumbling like a stale croissant can’t be all bad. But The Mummy director Stephen Somers is so busy hurling cars at the camera that he neglects to string together a coherent story. It’s like being caught in the middle of a shouting match between a bunch of huge men armed with exploding crossbows — you can’t really make out what they’re yelling about but you can be pretty certain that everything around you is about to be blown up.

Laudanum09, from the way your describing CC's voice I have a hard time imagining JGL pulling that off for some reason. Do you think there was some computer touch ups added to it like they did for Bale in TDK?

Either that or the voice isn't as bad as you say it is I'm guessing.

I have no friggin clue dude. That'd be my guess. when he's the Doctor, it might be JGL's real voice, and if it is then it has SOME alteration because of the breathing apparatus. I think it is his real voice for the most part, theres the unmasking scene and his voice changes slightly because he removes the breathing apparatus and I think JGL was really doing it with some slight changes to suit the way it would sound with the mask.

I actually ended up liking the Doctor's voice more and more although initially it was a bit WTF...but when he puts on the CC mask, it's DEFINITELY altered, no doubt about that. It's not that bad, I can grow to like it its just really inappropriate. Watch it and let me know what you think. I actually really liked the Doctor come to think of it. Ridiculous, creepy and sinister.

I might be in the minority on this, but I think I would prefer anything over the cartoon voice. I know it may be iconic and all, but I couldn't stand to hear that shrill high-pitch slither from any actor in a regular motion picture. It's just one of those things that didn't really age well IMO, but I guess there could be worse
