I have a question. Why do people keep saying this film doesn't have a name yet? It seems official to me that it is "The Fantastic Four." IMDb/IMDbpro has that listed as the title. Actors and producers/execs freely refer to it as "The Fantastic Four" in interviews as well. Is it because there hasn't been a logo released, and that will somehow make it official?

Lack of official logo or title banner I guess. Though I do hope they release it soon!

Normally you have an announcement, there has been no official announcement of anything. There was barely an announcement of actors involved.

Basically the problem is that there has not been an official release giving a name to the film (nor has there been an official release about anything else with this film) as such currently its name would probably technically be "Unnamed Fantastic Four Reboot". It is a "Fantastic Four" film but that does not mean that that is the official name of the film. For example a film based on the Hulk could be Hulk, The Hulk, The Incredible Hulk, The Savage Hulk, just to name a few. And all that is before you get to sequels. These days studios often prefer to avoid using numbers as it can subconsciously make the public feel that they need to have seen the first film to understand the sequel. This is why you get stuff like "Winter Soldier", Ragnarok" etc.

So with this production it is a Fantastic Four film but it could be 'The Fantastic Four', 'Fantastic Four', 'Fantastic 4', 'FF', 'F4' etc. This name needs to be known for logos, advertising, marketing, posters. Trademarks and copyrights need to be placed and so on. Until the name is decided none of that can be done.

Have we ever heard anything to contradict "Fantastic Four Reborn"?

That was supposedly the title 3 or 4 years ago. I think "The Fantastic Four" and "Fantastic Four Reborn" both have roughly equal credibility as potential titles. . . or it could be something completely different.

Can't say I recall any news/rumour that may have been the title at some point, but I can honestly say I haven't followed this reboot as closely as others have.

Though in my opinion I don't think 'Reborn' is a great idea. It doesn't really make sense other than to say "hey, this is a reboot and not the previous films".

"So it shouldn’t come as any surprise that the tentative title is Fantastic Four Reborn.

Of course titles change all the time, so until Fox sends out a press release, I’d not get too worked up over either one. More as we hear it."

Still waiting for that press release. :funny:

If you want to have truth in advertising, the title should be

Fantastic Four Chronicles
or
Chronicle2: Fantastic Four

Fantastic 4

Then we start telling everyone that they need to have seen the previous three ( Fantastic 1-3) to understand it.

Maybe they will have the characters be anthros and will adapt the Fantastic Fur on screen.

Now the only question is whether they should use Ducktor Doom or the Marvel Apes Doom Baboon.

I just saw Whiplash and WOW, Miles Teller was FANTASTIC ! What a range. I already liked him in Rabbit Hole and The Spectacular Now but this time he impressed the hell out of me.

I'm really curious about this FF reboot. Almost everything about it seems weird but I can't help but remain optimistic. I LOVED Chronicle and the cast is full of young talents.

I hope we get something (a teaser, a photo ???) before the end of the year.

Before the end of which year?

Obviously 2014. Because by the next year, the film is already out and we would start talking about the sequel.

I know this is extremely, absolutely unlikely but how likely do you guys think that maybe the mystery surrounding this film is intentional on Trank's part? Maybe he went into this film with a mindset of "The only way this movie's gonna work is if we have ABSOLUTE anonymity. No set leaks, no press releases, no promo pics...we're just going to take everyone by surprise just like how movies were back in the day." Like I said, its unlikely but a part of me thinks that maybe just MAYBE Trank is doing his best to orchestrate quite possibly the most secretive super hero movie in history.

The only reason I may believe this is because I remember Chronicle came out of NOWHERE. I remember seeing a commercial for the movie like two weeks before it came out and I was like "Where the f*** did THIS movie come from?" It came out of nowhere and took everyone by surprise. Maybe Trank is the new JJ Abrams and likes his films mysterious until release? Maybe? Possibly?

Definitely. I also firmly believe Trank got stoned throughout the filming process because he wanted to really understand Ben Grimm's predicament of being a stone man. Toby Kebbell's Domashev tease was a masterful way to introduce today's young, hip crowd to a Doom for the modern age. The fact that every single film Trank was developing after Chronicle was stuck in development hell (this film, Venom, Shadow of the Colossus) isn't disconcerting at all. And comparing Trank's Fantastic Four film to JJ Abrams, whose next film has a trailer over a year before release and already has a massive multimedia advertising campaign, is the greatest comparison of all time! :o

Shadow of the Colussus? Geez. That's an incredibly difficult game to adapt for film anyway, no way I'd give that to Trank.

Disney should've employed Trank to get the budget down for the Lone Ranger. That's when they really needed him.

He's no longer attached (the director of Mama is currently set to direct it).

Haha, well the only reason I compared him to JJ is because Abrams used to be INCREDIBLY secretive with his movies to the point where it was almost frustrating. But, I see what you mean lol

That's not how "big budget" studio superhero movies work.

There's not a chance in hell they'd let HIM get away with no promo photos of any kind.

And there've already been set leaks and press releases. Leaked photo of a Thing model from on set, and leaked photos of Domashev, a Thing stand-in in green screen, and somebody, probably MBJ, in Human Torch mocap stuff.

So yeah, the silence IS all intentional, but not for the "I'm going to surprise them because this is so good" reason. It's "we have zero faith in this movie so we're going to hide it until the last second to try and keep any negative buzz away and hopefully at least get our investment back."

Yeah. This production just screams out that their will either be no press screenings, or that they will be embargoed until the day of release.
