Is it just me or does Maggie's make up look a little Joker-ish here?

Well, I said it even before I saw the film and I'll say it again now that I have....

Rachel Dawes had no point being in this film. Her part could have been played by Gilda Dent.

IMO she was the only flaw in the film.

R.I.P. Maggie Gyllenhaal did Rachal justice. But who will be the next leading lady?! Catwoman?!

I may be in the minority here, but I liked Maggie Gyllenhaal! She was a vast improvement over Katie Holmes, imo

In which scene does Rachel die?

the warehouses scheme

so is it confirmed that Rachel's death is a result of the Jokers whole "two different warehouses" scheme? And if so how does that work on screen? Has he got two monitors to show Bats each one? Is Mr. J with one of them? are they tied up or is it just one of them "locked door" deals? How does the Joker tell Batman anyway? Just calling him on the phone? Come one, Im got another week longer to wait than you yanks-I need to know these things now!!

Yes. He tells Batman just after getting his ass kicked. They are tied.

Is it true that
she is on the phone tearfully speaking to Dent before she gets blown up
? Someone mentioned this in another thread.

Yes.

Man, what a sad, tragic death. She died knowing moments before it was over. That's a horrible way to go. Lucius's comments about cats makes it fairly sure that Catwoman will be in the sequel, but I doubt they'll sneak Rachel into the part.

I do have to say that I understand that they need a female character to balance, Rachel has been pretty disposable in both films. I thought the part and the acting was awful in the first (Dawes seemed to always be in "lawyer/hero" mode, and Holmes was just bad). In the second, Maggie Gyllenhal was amazing given the material, I really felt for her. She made me overcome the need for continuity in actors. But the character was a bit undeveloped, making her just another heroine in distress; a weak point.

I am glad that she was killed. Not because i hated the character but Bruce needed another reason to keep being Batman since it has been years since his parents have died and to keep the hatred inside of him built up.

^ And to take away his "one hope for a normal life". It was also key in Harvey's fall.

people will say maggie did better, but she had much more to work with in tdk. holmes would have been just as good.

i had to laugh when
the joker called maggie beautiful. if only he saw her one movie ago =p

Actually, after just seeing TDK, I thought Rachel had more to work with in Begins.
Dawes in TDK is kind of a flat character. IMO of course.

Maggie was great, her death was amazing and she actually could act. I kind of missed the character after Maggie got hold of it.

I like how she's talking then all of a sudden BOOM! Dead.

Well, I was surprised, but I do not think that Gyllenhall was better than Katie Cruise.
