This is a fine, fine choice in my opinion. Let's face it--Katie's name is crap as far as the media is concerned. The public can't stand her, and her being attached to this project would make the whole thing laughable and hurt its credibility. Right now, her celebrity is bigger than her "acting chops"--and I do not mean that in a good way.

Maggie, on the other hand, is a real actress--and she'll bring real solidarity and flavor to the role. Plus she looks similar to Katie--but in my opinion, more attractive. Usually, I'm not a fan of recasts, but honestly? For me, this is a win-win situation.

I am confused,since when was she hated ?(sorry don't follow entertainment gossipy stuff) i thought the party line was ppl were "worried about her" and "felt sorry for her"

Sloppy is one thing, an internal conflict inside the studio is another, it´s people with different ideas and opinions sticking for them, it´s a problem, but it´s not sloppy.

Personal taste matter, I don´t find your choice much more attractive than Maggie.

I don't buy that,i think WB screwed the pooch on this and now are just refitting the pieces they dropped with their carelessness,still it seems i am in the minority and most hate Katie and think Maggie is the second coming so i'll go with the flow

It's weird being a geek lol i don't like this casting or what they are doing with GI Joe but on the other hand i am thrilled with the news from Iron Man about stone and the released Rorschach image is badass......swings and roundabouts

I still think Katie was a studio move, so.....depending on how you felt about her performance....you could blame them, I guess.

Nobody could have predicted that Katie would get "Crusied".

And, I think Maggie's cute. So, that's that for me.

I'm sure that sentiment is out there too. But considering who she's involved with, she's lost a lot of "love" from people. I know many of my personal friends who absolutely despise her (and especially her husband). I'm not saying she's anywhere near Britney Spears/K-Fed hatred levels, but she's definitely not popular right now--at least not here in New York it seems.

I believe she'd bring bad press to this project. Dark Knight doesn't need that kind of sensationalism swirling around the set.

We are on the same page Showy on both these things,i just feel to avoid the cicus you write a new character or for me personally cast someone i like in the recasting of Rachel

I agree, I think one of my first posts on these parts was wondering why they just didn't write a new character rather than recast Rachel, I was questioning whether her chracter was that important in the scope of things.

I am watching Katie right now on TBS, Dawson's Creek is on. In my opinion the best episode of the show ever made. 1st Episode, Season 4, "Coming Home" Joey and Pace return home to face a barrage of questions about whether they had sex; Pacey's sister abruptly arrives from college. Katie will always be Joey to me...t:

Oh ok,well to me ive never understood judging stars on any level,all i care about his how they perform in their roles or on stage if they are singers.

Sometimes a celebrity union like Tom and Katie creates a buzz which actually helps the careers of those involved, in this case I think it was the opposite. There was a nice buzz at the beginning but the slope moved downward from there.

The Boston Red Sox have a player, Manny Ramirez, probably one of the best hitters to ever play baseball. Unfortunately his on and off field antics sometimes trump his performace on the field, the question is, is this his fault or has the media made it bigger than it is? Chicken or the egg I guess.

I find it sad how judgmental ppl are and how consumed they are by celebrities but i guess it makes some feel better knocking ppl.

I will give you credit with the idea that WB should've mandated to Nolan that they wanted Holmes out and just have a different film character all together. That would've been the best situation.

At the same time, I'm kind of glad that Nolan stuck with Rachel because she's important in the character arc they're building with the Wayne character...and having her return makes senses.

It's a toss up, really. I'm glad the Rachel character is back, but I wish the same actress was in the role. Yet, they probably should've bit the bullet and just do a new female lead all together...eventhough I know Nolan was trying to avoid that with this particular Batman franchise.

It's just a sticky situation that will hopefully not overshadow the project once the film is released.....

I just checked the "Gentlemen" thread.....and wow. Can't believe what I read in there.

I mean, she's not a model by any means. But, she's got that "girl next door" look, that I think, Rachel is about. Sure, Bruce could go for the models. He could go for whatever, he's freakin' Bruce Wayne. But, that girl next door angle is what I think Rachel is suited for.
