The Reboot Joker

10 years ago, you'd never imagine to see him come this far in versatility. He's genuinely surprised me.

Ledger proves that it doesn't matter what the actor looks like so much. It's more about presence and the voice.

I like Steve Carell. I like the Joker. Steve can play a Joker that's both sad and funny at the same time :)

I like how sad Heath looked in the "never start with the head" moment in TDK. If Joker was like that the whole movie, but with Hamill style playfulness..I think that Steve could create yet another great Joker performance.

Doug Jones!

I mean, it's Joker right there!

Yeah he sorta does, but I think it would be pretty easy to get Jones looking like a mix of Joker from the animated show and the Arkham games. He's a pretty good actor too, whether he could pull off the role is anyone's guess, but he'd certainly look the part.

They're not going to touch the Joker for a long time after Heath's performance.

Hell we've only gotten three [live action] Jokers, and each one was twenty years apart.

All things considered, even the most cherished and sought to performance of Heath Ledger was the Joker is, or might as well be, the most iconic performance since Anthony Hopkins in Silence of the Lambs... the Joker is such a universal character. Open to many interpretations and plenty of opportunities to reinvention or to please everyone, something more traditional: long story short, 90% of the world pine for a live action Mark Hamill Joker. :cwink:

We're delving into a world where Bruce Wayne has supposedly been Batman for a great deal of time: following that same train of thought, it's rational thinking to believe the Joker has been raising hell for Batman for a good amount of history. My point is... I respect Ledger, but I respect the Joker: if you're a loyal fan, then you will honor every interpretation of the Joker differently and as to their own.

I think that's the best lesson (one that I fear most people still haven't learned)

Scrolling down fast, that nearly scared the **** out of me lol

Eight years will have passed between TDK's and BvS's releases. Eight long, Jokerless years. I'm sure that people will feel ready to see him again by then.

Ten years passed between the first Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man reboot still felt too soon.

Its too soon to touch the Joker, and yes Heath plays a part in this. His performance made a huge impact which lingers on to this day.

I think Ty Burrell would also be a solid choice. And I seriously doubt we'll ever see him in another Marvel film anyways.

I think it felt too soon because it tread such familiar ground, in that it just felt redundant. If giving us another Batman so soon after Bale's Batman doesn't feel "too soon" why would Joker? Especially if you do it differently.

More Whigham is always a good thing.

EDIT: I really wouldn't mind seeing Whigham as Johnathan Crane/Scarecrow.

It's times like this, I like to create polls...
Walton Goggins
Willem Dafoe
Adrien Brody
Michael Pitt
Woody Harrelson
Matt Smith
Matthew McConaughey
Benedict Cumberbatch

are some of the popular suggestions

I was about to type that almost word-for-word, so thanks for fielding that one

Edit: Any casting process for a significantly "older" Joker ought to consider British actor Mark Heap. The man personifies creepy. Look him up in the "Lizards" sketch in "Jam" (I would link, but it is heavy with expletives), or as Brian in "Spaced".

As much as I like Mark Heap, they'd never give the role to him.
