The Rebooted "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) Thread - - - Part 12

I just watched GOTG 2, and both films are absolutely amazing. I can't really judge if they're "comic books come to life" because I never read the comic books. My general impression (rightly or wrongly since I'm admittedly ignorant) is that those films are more about putting James Gunn's vision on the screen than truly focusing on bringing the comic-books to life.

I would love to see Gunn direct a FF film - even if he diverges a little bit from the comic books. But Gunn working off those drawings above would be a dream come true.

Gunn's vision is precisely the redundancy I see in what people expect an F4 flick to be. The fact that some would rather see them in the 60s comes across as they likely noticed there's already a modern family of adventurers exploring the cosmos on the silver screen.

So I met and spoke to John Gallagher face to face today, the artist of these pieces that I posted previously

He said that he is meeting with Marvel Studios for a project that he could not name. I mentioned this thread and how we want the rights to revert back. He is on our side to say the least. He thinks Marvel will wait it out. Things are looking good...he knows about The Hype and hopefully he might even drop by on this thread!

Since my opinion is fact, people like the Galactus in RotSS better and the Thing and Doom in FFINO better. And Fox is getting to Marvel Disney levels. :o

How I long for a Hulk vs FF cinematic fight. In an almost perfect world Marvel Entertainment would have the movie rights of all their characters.

I hope Universal Studios gives Marvel the opportunity to get the Hulk's distribution rights.

While I think GOTG and other Marvel films have covered some areas that could have worked in FF, talented film-makers can still make something fresh and new.

The FF never really flew all over the Galaxy like GOTG. They primarily explored Earth and addressed alien threats when they came to Earth. Also, compared to the FF, the GOTG aren't really 'explorers' as much as they are mercenaries.

If we didn't already have Wakanda coming up and the awful Inhumans TV show, those would have fit perfectly with a primarily Earth-bound FF.

But we still have the Negative Zone, Subterranea, Atlantis and while we've glimpsed the sub-atomic world, it hasn't been explored yet.

Fox still haven't gotten Ben Grimm right. He was better in the Story films but still not quite spot on. In Trank's version he was completely wrong. He needs to be funny and self deprecating and witty. It has to be more of the typical Jewish humour both in terms of wit and in terms of situation so that even if he's not saying anything in particular he still films himself in droll situations.

Maybe Woody Allen should direct a Thing movie.

I personally would NOT want to see Gunn on an FF film. I loved Guardians, but he was given way more control with the sequel and it shows. I am fine with him hanging out in the cosmic corner of the galaxy but I don't need any turd jokes in my FF film.

The only kind of turd joke that could be in an FF film is if Ben Grimm goes to the toilet and does a poo and it is rock hard, and he says "what a revolting development!".

Pass.

How did FFINO's Thing ever pee? Did they fit him with some filtration system?

It was out of his mouth...

You do not want to know how he *********es.:o

I heard there was some $#%^ talk here, I came to join the fun.

I don't know about wanting James Gunn to handle this franchise, I'd rather see each director stick to their designated franchise and not stray away in this universe. Give someone else the task of handling the :ff:, someone not already involved with the MCU.

I wouldn't want Gunn to direct as the Fantastic Four need a different feel from the Guardians and not be as comedic. I want the film to be visually beautiful and not afraid to take risks, but also with a lot of heart and action. It should be a spectacle.

One thing (of many) that every iteration got completely wrong was the action. It has always been bland and boring which make no sense when their powers are so cool.

Who is this actress?

French actress Melanie Laurent

My main worry is that with all the franchises which Marvel are working on, some of them may get the Iron Fist/Inhumans treatment. If you asked me a year ago who would make a better Fantastic Four film, I'd easily say Marvel. Now I'm honestly not entirely sure.

No mcu film has dipped down to the quality of those shows. And those are two different departments so obe does not equal the other.

Everything you described...Gunn has done. Plus it's gonna be Marvel Studios and ITS GONNA HAVE HUMOUR. there's no getting away from that fact of life. My other choice would be Brad Bird, director and creator of The Incredibles.

The only thing wrong with Marvel TV division is Scott Buck. Daredevil is up there with the first Iron Man.

What if Fox hire Scott Buck now to work on the next FF movie and see if he can out-Trank Trank?
