The Rebooted "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) Thread - - - Part 12

I'd put all of the characters that carried a comic book series for multiple decades on the A-list. Spider-Man, Hulk, Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, Deadpool, Punisher, Daredevil and Wolverine were all Marvel A-listers before their live action debuts.

It all comes down to scope and your own definitions. I'm thinking on more of a multimedia scale, beyond just comics. Iron Man and Cap are up there but no where near the heights of Spider-man, X-men, and the Hulk had in the 90's and 00's. Basically the characters non comic fans knew about. The MCU really changed that, before Marvel Promotional stuff always had Spider-man or Wolverine front and centered. But when Iron Man premiered he became the one with the spot light. Then Winter Soldier came out and Cap was front and centered.

The Avengers are now marketing giants when before they had very little presence beyond the comics. And after everything the MCU has done I have no doubts they can do that with any character.

Generally speaking, I'm happy with any sign that FF isn't dead. It may not mean Marvel has the rights, but I also don't think it means Marvel is giving up.

My biggest concern is Fox might see a big, triumphant return and fan's excitement over that to mean they should try again.

So we need to make it clear to Fox that, while we still want the FF, we don't want another film from them.

how would you suggest we do that?

Through threads like this, comments on news stories, tweets etc.

It hasn't been very ambiguous over the past couple years, but it could get trickier if Fox misinterprets our enthusiasm for a comics return as a possible sign we're ready for a new film from them.

Some of the excitement of that Alex Ross art is some people believing it's concept art for a possible Marvel Fantastic Four. FOX seeing enthusiasm for a Marvel Fantastic Four can only help.

That actually gives me less hope that the FF movie rights are coming home. It seems like Marvel is giving up the fight. First they relented regarding the X-Men not getting any new toys or game appearances etc. Now they're relenting regarding the FF. :(

it means that the relationship with Fox is getting better???

if Fox sees the box office takings for Spider-Man Homecoming, they might well be interested in joining forces with Marvel Studios.

I think having the X-men back in Marvel games is definitely a good sign.

Marvel giving up on them means they won't appear in games at all.

Same goes for Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. The rights are shared. Both of them are in Future Fight now.

What are you talking about? X-Men aren't in MVCI.

as for MvsCI, the game was in development since 2015 the xmen ban was still on when they finaized the initial roster it has since been said by multiple sources who leaked the original game announcement and roster that the xmen and ff4 characters(doom super skrull) are coming beginning with wave 2 of dlc in 2018

isn't his leak considered fake?

what i mean was for future fight and avengers academy. academy has been hinting at the x-men for a long time.

the leaker i am talking about was ryce on neogaf his info was confirmed to be real by neogaf before he could even post it maxmillian has also confirmed he had heard the same thing concerning future dlc all this to say that yes the reationship seems to be getting better hell the fantastic four are even getting new marvel legends comic figures sue, johnny, reed, ben, super skrul and silver surfer this does not mean the rights are back buuuuut it suggests something must of changed

At least we're probably getting them back in the comics sooner pr later.

It's cool to see them not just coming back, but coming back with some anticipation and buildup. For a while it seemed like nobody cared if they just disappeared.

How great would it be if the writers and artists used the opportunity to take shots at Fox.

Perhaps they could introduce a new villain with a Fox theme and/or name who has been holding them and doing terrible things to them.:woot:

I've always held that the instant the MCU return is announced, they'll also immediately take center stage in the next big company-wide crossover.

Did Marvel make anything noteworthy with Spider-Man when he joined the MCU? I really don't remember.

They didn't really do anything different, they were already making lots of Spidey related books and having him generally be everywhere, Spidey's presence was never dampened in comics before he joined the MCU.

Yeah I guessed that. F4 is a different situation altogether.

So I finally managed to see Spider-man Homecoming and throughout the movie all I could think of is how awesome it would be if the FF came home. The action alone..... :awesome:

They need to return and soon. It's just frustrating that fans are so powerless, when 99% want them back at Marvel.

I had a similar reaction, but I was constantly thinking of Daredevil and Kingpin due to the NY backdrop.

If Marvel can't find away to include Kingpin in Spiderman at some point, I'll be pretty annoyed.

You really don't see much influence in the comics. You might see some things due to fan reaction. Like Jessica Jones getting a new series. It's more a matter of seeing that there's an audience for it. I mean when Captain America Civil War came out they pulled the Hydra Cap. Any cross media marketing guy would say "don't do that". Maybe there'll be a retcon to match the movies but for the most part writers are typically allowed the freedom to create. I remember a while ago one writer saying that Marvel was more willing to let him kill a character right before a film, I don't recall the situation.
