I'm an adult. I have a life. I don't have time to be going to see 30 CBMs a year, no matter the quality.

I have no intrest in Thor: Ragnarok at all. I'm going to do it case by case.

I just saw the New Mutants trailer and it looks like it's as advertised - and it looks like it may be better at doing what Trank claimed he wanted to do than Fant4stic.

On the plus side, it should be different, so it may not be victim of 'Superhero Fatigue'.

On the other hand, since it doesn't look like a superhero film, it won't get the $500 million plus that superhero films can make and that means Fox may still be looking for that blockbuster.

The NM trailer does nothing for me, but it does look like it may fit the Fox goal of decent profit because of a low budget.

I'm only going to watch MCU movies from now on. The rest can wait.

I'm in that camp as well. I have skipped some of Marvel's recent TV offerings but love what Feige and Co. are doing on the big screen. And Ragnarok is looking like it may be my favorite one yet. The other studios are putting out some quality flicks - I enjoyed Wondy - but I can't wait to watch the next installments in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

New Mutants is definitely a better fit for the horror genre than the FF, and the team's small fanbase is likely more accepting of the civilian clothing and changes to the source material. Right now it looks like a standard teen horror flick with a light Marvel dusting, and probably isn't for me.

I actually go to very few movies anymore. I just buy them on Vudu UHD and own them a few months later for less than it would cost for me and my wife to go to the movies.

The key films that I generally still go to the theaters for are Marvel and Star Wars. I may check out Justice League, but that's on the bubble right now.

I barely watch any in theatres either. I didn't see GOTG2 or Spider-Man Homecoming. The only movie I saw in theatres this year was Wonder Woman. I might see Thor: Ragnarok and Justice League. I saw Dr Strange, but felt I could've just waited to see that once it came out on DVD/BR.

How many times did you see Fant4stic in theatres though? Some here planned to see it 10 times. Did you outdo them?

I feel the same -- New Mutants looks like a low-budget horror movie, complete with one of the teens exclaiming, "This isn't a hospital, this is a haunted house!" :ebr: The "scary" faces coming through the walls would be right at home in a cheap Blumhouse movie. Cheap is probably the operative word here since horror movies are very inexpensive and can be done with much less CGI than a straight superhero movie. That is undoubtedly why Fox went with Boone because his "haunted house" concept keeps the budget far below blockbuster levels.

:funny: I didn't see Fant4stic in the theater.:cmad:

I did see GOTG2, Homecoming, Dr. Strange and Wonder Woman along with Kong, Skull Island and Rogue One, and that probably sums up just about all the films I've seen in theaters over the past couple years.

We are on the verge of getting the most Kirby-esque movie ever with Ragnarok. When is the FF's turn again?

This is why I always have mixed feelings. Every time we get a new Marvel film and it seems like they're due to have a stinker, they outdo themselves, and all reports indicate Ragnarok will raise the bar again.

It's great to see such good comic-book films, but frustrating it's not FF.

... and then I have fears that when we do finally get FF, it's going to be the one stinker.:csad:

:highfive: That's how I see it. Well.....I will watch some DC films because JL really has me kind of intrigued..............I Mean, I want to want to like it but they haven't pushed me that far yet. But the door hasn't closed but it definitely hasn't open either. Check my sig. I'm bout that life.

I plan to pass on NM one the basis of I'm not a horror fan, but it fits another of my theories, exploring new genres within the superhero film genre is a trademark of who exactly? Yeah. Feige and crew. Which makes me wonder if the boys and girls at Fox are talking behind the scenes, and the MCU is slowly forming other universes, outside the classic MCU one we've seen so far, linked by the words of the Ancient One in DS to mean we might actually get or have what AoS promised back when it started. "It's ALL connected."

Add in the work on Gifted, which the one episode I've seen, having the required Stan the Man cameo, actually impressed me further that something is building. Not here yet, more like the climbing of towers of cumulus that have yet to drop rain on a severe weather day in tornado alley.

I think, more so now than before, that the real "severe outbreak" of that analogy, will be the FF in the MCU. Thinking about it, if it happens, and happens fast... even in a post credits way, A4 would be the place to do it. 2021 is my new target date. Why, you might ask? Simple. 60 years. A great tribute, if Stan can stick around to see it in person.

Oh man, come on. Positivity!
As DyfeddRex just said, 2021, 60 years, hang in there! :woot:

Yeah, Willie. Positive thinking, and send them a treatment of your idea. Hell, it might be they are waiting for the right story and moment both.

Heck, the way the Non Phase 4/Cosmic phase line up with the start of the Silver Age Marvel starting off, the birth of the 616 we grew up with, well us old fogies at least, I'd say our best bet is if Marvel starts some top secret project next year as part of that, not saying what the movie is, just who directs, and keeps that person mum on it, just hinting it will be BIG.

Keep the Fait, Willie. Be really amazing they unleashed a FF MCU movie on the anniversary of the FF's creation.

Both Thor Ragnarok and Star Wars TLJ have that "must see" factor for me, but not the Justice League. While I enjoyed WW, none of the other DCEU movies really wowed me so I think I'd rather wait for Wonder Woman 2 instead.

I don't want to come off like I'm giving up, but it's absolutely amazing when Ant-Man, came out, I thought: "Wow, they made a great film out of a minor, quirky hero like that." Then Dr. Strange came out and I thought: "Wow, they nailed it again." And the trailer and images for Black Panther look amazing and the reactions to Ragnarok are great...

And it just feels like: "They can't keep doing this."

It's like flipping a coin 30 times and getting heads every time and you know you're going to get tails in there somewhere.

I just hope their luck doesn't run out when it's time for FF.

But realistically, it's not luck. It's skill and a knowledge of the characters and a desire and willingness to bring these characters to screen while retaining, as much as possible, the elements that made them iconic in the comics.

So as long as they can get the rights back and just do their thing with FF, I should have nothing to worry about.

... but with that said, after watching studios fumble with the FF for literally 30 years now with four films and none of them rising above the level of 'crap', there are times is just seems like it will never happen.:csad:

I just saw this:

https://www.thewrap.com/kevin-feige-thor-ragnarok-planet-hulk/

And while it doesn't directly relate to FF, I find it fascinating that Kevin Feige is so cognizant of rumors and is willing to go so far as changing the ending of a film to prevent fans from getting false hope for a film that wasn't going to happen.

With that in mind, he should be aware of how we feel about FF, and hopefully he'll keep us informed to some extent. I think that's why he made a point of saying they didn't have the rights several months ago. I don't think he wants us getting our hopes up if it's really not happening.

And hopefully he'll get so sick of denying the rumors he'll just make sure they get the rights so they don't have to deny them anymore.:woot:

I think that to avoid super hero Fatigue is to have these movies explore new genres, Deadpool is an R rated comedy, Logan was a dark Western and this is a horror movie. Deadpool and Logan made a ton of money.

I like the MCU pop corn films, but I like some variety in my entertainment.

The thing is the X-Men is a bigger and darker franchise then the FF, so so these different genres and darker stories work for X-Men and not FF.

Umm .. there are rumors that Skrulls will debut in X-Men: Dark Phoenix ... um, how true can that be?
I mean, it's official that they will debut in Captain Marvel. And I know they co-owned the rights, but ... it really will be such a petty move from the studios, since both movies' releases are 5 month apart.
