X-Men
Fantastic Four
Silver Surfer
Dr. Doom
Kang the Conqueror
Galactus
Annihilus
The Brotherhood of Mutants

HUGE implications for the future of the MCU if they managed to get all of that back in-house.

What you're looking at is multiple new franchises.

X-Men, Fantastic Four, X-Force, Silver Surfer, X-Factor, Doctor Doom, New Mutants and Alpha Flight all in the MCU.

I think the last time I felt this good about a rumor was March of 2014 when there were rumors Fox was going to fire Josh Trank.

Still a long way to go, but this has more substance than most other things we've heard over the years.

We may get Annihilation/Annihilation Conquest/War of Kings as the next Guardians trilogy. That alone is worth the purchase.

Kang Dynasty for Avengers 5 is now completely possible as well.

The way I interpret the various articles I'm reading:

They have been talking.

They aren't currently actively talking, but that doesn't mean it's dead - that probably just means both sides are analyzing and regrouping and evaluating if the current proposals that have been offered are workable.

Now that the story has leaked, it will likely put more pressure on both sides, because both stocks are rising and shareholders will be asking questions and will want to know what might happen.

I wouldn't be surprised if the side that was most anxious to make a deal (not sure which side that is, but likely Fox) intentionally leaked the story to get more of a sense of urgency going on the other side.

From the reports, it seems like a lot of details have already been discussed, so this is beyond the crazy, "just throwin' this out there" stage and into the "can we really make this work?" stage.

Its certainly possible that the talks were leaked to test how the market would react.

Also when it comes to merger regulations it might actually be helpful that it is happening during the current administration who are far more pro big business/ anti regulation, especially when both companies have people that Trump sees favourably, Ike Pearlmutter and Rupert Murdoch.

This would be a dream come true. Reminds me a little of when Spider-man seemed like a pipe dream and now he is part of the MCU.

If they did make a deal soon I wonder what would happen with the existing Marvel projects Fox is working on.

No real shock there but the rumor being shut down hurts which studio the most moving forward?

Both spiked with the initial story, so see whose shares drop with the no talk at this time update.

That being said with Thor Ragnarok doing great Disney's shares are likely to be on the uppers regardless.

If the deal goes through, and I am skeptical that it will, but if it does...I think we are likely to see Doom and Galactus as the next major MCU event villains (that is to say, Phases 4-6 will be centered around the two of them, much as Phases 1-3 were focused on Thanos). Assuming it can be done in time. These deals can sometimes take years to stomp out and get regulatory approval on.

Both companies' stock prices spiked.

And this is a key point. This is a deal that could be very good for both sides, so that makes it more likely they'll find a way to make something happen.

Fox's film division at Disney is worth more than it is at Fox, so Fox can theoretically collect a check that is larger than their film division's current worth and Disney can end up with an asset that is worth more than they paid. Classic Win-Win.

Yeah, traditional Fox franchises like Aliens and Apes haven't done so well. That upcoming Predator sequel or reboot probably wont either and it feels like James Cameron is just dragging his feet with Avatar so times might be hard with Logan being the only huge profit for Fox this year.

Yeah, Phase 1 - 3 was Loki and Thanos

and Phase 4 - 6 could be Dr. Doom and Galactus

Figure.... X-universe is what? 619? What number is the MCU? Ultimates was 13hundred something.

I don't know that I would consider them heroes, but if the planet is going to be consumed and they are on it they may want to get on board with the fight.

I know it's early in these talks but holy crap!!!!!

We have been begging for Marvel to get back it's properties and now it's actually happening!

A dream is a wish your heart makes!

Here is one quick thought. What if Disney and Fox agreed to one section in advance, rights transfer, as a assurance.... naw, Mouse has nothing but money for Murdochs... while the box office for an AvX would be.... Hell, let's see what the other comics house does in a week and a half, then think over the Nerdvana moment that Marvel all being under one roof could bring.
