The Rebooted "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) Thread - - - - Part 13

So are James Franco and Seth Rogen. Everytime they release a movie around December, another historic Disney/Marvel deal goes through.

Oh right haha. Get them on board too. We need all of you lucky charms to do your thing every year and we're guaranteed a good Xmas. ;)

The FF boards were some of my favorites when they were open. Hopefully if this happens, we can all enjoy a more positive atmosphere in there, lol

Imagine - an FF forum where we’re actually anxiously anticipating an upcoming film - as opposed to being horrified by leaked images of Doom looking like a kid wrapping himself with tin-foil and old blankets.

We're soooo close, won't get too excited until it's official!

I disagree. The film is going to have reshoots at some point, so let's say those happen this Summer. They have 6 months to make that work, possibly more depending upon when the reshoots actually start and if Feige has not been working behind the scenes already on it. Plenty of time. Again, that timeline assumes that the sale is effective once approved or by 1st of year. If the sale doesn't finalize until sometime next year once this is worked out, then yeah it won't work.

Even if they can be added via reshoots, I don’t think they should. They won’t even let Captain Marvel be introduced in IW and before her movie, so why would they do it with X Men and FF?

Captain Marvel has to be introduced from ground up and her placement in the timeline is complicated, so waiting makes sense. The FF would just be other heroes we didn't meet yet, and also like I said prior, someone had to buy Stark Tower. Why not them? So Tony can already possibly know Reed personally, and boom, there is your in.

I bet that Feige has been following this very closely, and maybe even was already working on this should it go through. I think the main factor on if they can make it work will be when the sale goes into effect.

The MCU seems to be so well organised in this respect. They were totally ready to respond to getting the rights to use Spidey so it wouldn't surprise me. When they plan things out things seem to stick very close to that plan but still with the flexibility to move things around to accommodate other eventualities.

Now I'm left wondering. If the Fantastic Four come home...Will DC continue on with The Terrifics?

If this deal does in fact go through than we probably won't really see it go into effect until 2019 since their are already plenty of Fox/Marvel films in the can for next year. It was already reported a while ago that Avengers 4 was doing reshoots next year and knowing how prepared Feige is when it comes to this stuff I wouldn't be surprised if he already has a plan to add in some late additions similar to what happened with Spider-Man. Whether it's cameos in the actual film or post credit scenes the Fantastic Four will be in there somewhere.

James Franco and Seth Rogen are going to play Reed and Ben in the MCU, haha

Why aren't the Avengers using Avengers tower?

Haha, will be nice for a change.

Doom and Gambit will be cancelled. They won't rework FOX's existing Doom script, they will scrap it and introduce Doom in their own MCU film instead. You cannot make a Gambit movie before you have an MCU X-Men. Both those are gone. The other 3 will likely only see release cause they were filmed and in post already.

Why not. If you want the MCU history to stay intact you need to introduce covert mutants existing before the large scale transformation of Inhumans. An X-Men team or schoo for gifted humans doesn't fit. A lone enhanced man that the audience learns is a mutant because the Sokovia Accords spawned screens miss him could work

Yeah, a post-credit scene would be easy to do as long as they can cast people by then. They really do have this **** together.

Did we need a Starlord solo before Guardians of the Galaxy? That introduced many news elements not in the MCU before. X-Men can fit easily and explained without a solo from someone random like Gambit.

Why did he want to move them upstate? I don't remember that bit.

They never explain the why (though the new Avengers site was in Age of Ultron, Ant-Man, and Civil War), but the Vulture's entire plan was to heist them moving out of Stark Tower and him wanting to steal the stuff being moved to the new location.

The end of the Age Of Ultron. They needed space to train and not sit in the city on stand by. By Ant-Man it was a main base and the Avengers survivors went upstate after the Civil War. By Spider-Man the transfer was in the last stages

I hope the why is explained away as Reed Richards having bought it and made him an offer he couldn't refuse.

Ego didn't feel like Galactus because though he was basically making the world himself, they focused the storyline on his personal relationship with Starlord and 95% of it was on his planet, so the epicness was lost in favor of making it more personal. In GotG2, it worked. But, Galactus can EASILY be seen as a viable threat. You just have to film that differently. You need to focus on the terror Galactus is causing and highlight the ramifications of him destroying a planet. See the opening to the Transformers cartoon film for a good example of setting those stakes early and well. Show us refugees of other worlds who lost everything to Galactus. Show people who see the silver light in the sky fleeing their planets in terror. Focus on that, and it will feel epic.

The trick with Galactus is to make him like a force of nature personified. He can't be bargained with. He has no compassion. He only feeds.
How do you fight a force of nature? Should be the main question and challenge of a Galactus film. It should be viewed as what would happen if a God came to Earth to kill us and didn't care about our pleas.

So since other franchises outside of Spider-Man and MCU have been shy about suiting up their heroes it may have been possible to have had a Thor in a lawyer proof costume show up in a plot?

Yes. DC have had at least a couple of versions of Thor in their comics. The last one I know had a metal winged helmet, wore a lot of armor and had red hair and a beard, His hammer was also more like the traditional Norse designs for Mjolnir, rather than the block type Marvel used.

Iirc, I think he was meant to be related in some way to the Old Gods that came before Darkseid and the New Gods*.

Ares, Hercules, Zeus etc, have been part of Wonder Woman's lore too. Afaik there's no legal reason why DC couldn't do a version of their Thor or Hercules etc, on film, but their versions have never a big deal so a bit pointless.

There are other public domain characters that have been used by both of the big 2 comics houses too, such as Dracula & Frankenstein's monster.

*Fun fact: Kirby originally wanted to do the New Gods with Marvel, and he wanted go full Ragnarok with Thor & Asgard and have the new guys replace them all.
