The Rebooted "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) Thread - - - - - Part 14

I’d need to see a manip of Levitt as Richards.

No to Joel Edgerton. He looks more like a villain than a hero like Reed. There's something very cold about him.

If it weren't for the 2005 and 2007 movies, I would definitely have suggested Ioan Gruffudd. He is a far better choice now than he was back then.

Well how old is Holland supposed to be in Spider-man 2? I mean we know he is supposed to be in High School, but I hope he is playing like a Senior by then making him most likely 18 and I could see Johnny Storm playing an 18 to 20 year old in phase 4. I think an older teenager young adult would serve Johnny better then a young teenager. Young teenagers tend to be awkward because they are still going through puberty and Johnny is very sure of himself which I think is something that develops more in older teens or young adults. Don't get me wrong there are always exceptions, but as a general rule that is how I see it.

I believe the idea was that Peter ages one year between each S-M movie

I think he was suppose to be 15 and a 10th grade student. However since the school was academic achievement and not sports centered for social life he was able to attract the senior leader of the academic decathlon team as a homecoming date rather than being a scrub, or whatever the slang is now, and rejected outright. At the end call me M.J is preparing to take over the leadership of the team for the next school term.

They should definitely go with the classic Thing design:

Really hated Ben's look in the 2015 film. He looked like tree bark

 I think if there's one thing I'm most looking forward to, it's seeing a Thing that looks like he came out of the comics - not a guy in an obvious rubber suit or a lumpy d***less mess.

And with CGI, I want to see him lunging and punching and charging in action scenes like Kirby drew him

Thing should definitely be CGI and he definitely shouldn’t wear boots.

Yes to all the above!

I just realized something today that I couldn't help but get a good chuckle over: all these years we've been hearing how "the rights will never revert"- whether in reference to the X-Men, Fantastic Four, or other characters. Well... pedantically speaking, they were sort right all along. I mean, technically, the individual rights aren't reverting from Fox to Marvel. Disney's just buying the studio! :D

I can think of one poster here would probably be happy to hold on to that claim, even if only via technicality.

So, basically we are saying Holland is supposed to be 16 in Spider-Man 2? If so, I think Johnny Storm should be a couple years older, but not much.

A winery belonging to Rupert Murdoch is on fire in LA along with other celebrities' homes. I wonder if that will hold up the sale because now he'll have more pressing things to attend to.

To me, Jon Hamm or Michael Fassbender would be perfect. We’re not going to get either of those, but I’d hold them up against any potential candidates to see how they compare.

Sadly, most of the names being mentioned don’t compare favorably IMO.

He should have a presence that’s intimidating. If you’re standing face to face with him, you should be afraid to disagree with him, and Hamm or Fassbender do that far better than most of these other names.

And Doom should be similar. When the two of them are in the room, it should feel like two men amongst a bunch of children.

He will be a long shot but DANIEL DAY LEWIS or bust.

Someone mentioned Seth Rogen and after being against it initially, I can totally see it work. Give him blue contact lenses, shave him, and change his stoner attitude for the franchise and he might be a decent Ben Grimm.
Dan Fogler is another one I could see in that role, if he's not too busy finding fantastic beasts

 When he was younger, that would have been amazing. But besides likely not being interested ( didn’t he retire?), he’s getting up there in years.

Well, after he sold Fox to Disney he'll probably rich enough to afford several more wineries, although I'm sure he is already that wealthy. What's a few more billions worth to a billionaire? I think Murdoch is more interested in landing a top executive position for his son Robert.

To be honest I wouldn't even revisit the Four's origin. We've already seen it twice. Find a way to work them into the MCU as pre-existing characters.

If you do that, you'd never even need to see Rogen in the flesh. He'd be mocapping as The Thing the entire time. And honestly, envisioning his voice with a Kirby-inspired Thing design works so perfectly.

So does anyone truly know how Constantin Films comes into play? They own the FF right, and FOX has distribution.

I think they should do the origin via a montage as the intro, because they won't have the exact same origin story as the other 3 FF movies. But I do agree that they shouldn't spend the entire movie telling us how they got their powers.

I'd love for him to goto Midtown

I want someone with very typical Jewish humour this time round. Preferably someone Jewish to begin with, and a comedian, as it might come more natural to him.

I can't say much for his sense of humor, but have you seen Inglorious Bastards? Ben is usually depited as rather large, even before the powers,
and Eli Roth IS Jewish, as far as I know:
