The Rebooted "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) Thread - Part 5

Man i could see marvel centering entire phases around the F4 the way they've done for the avengers.

You know, as of lately i've been thinking and to be honest, it would be really cool if the Four (a pre-power cosmic rays version of them) are introduced in IW and their origins happen during the movie in the background, while the Avengers are fighting Thanos, they are falling back to Earth after being hitten by the cosmic rays.

Actually this could be pretty brilliant.

The government detects an anomaly on the other side of the moon. Following the events of Civil War the public distrust in the Avengers is pretty high so Ross approaches researchers at the Baxter Building who send a team to investigate. They encounter cosmic radiation coming from an area that ultimately precedes to Thanos' arrival. The researchers are knocked off course and return to Earth, or attacked and returned. Ross prior to sending in the Avengers, mentions the group they sent and the changes they've undergone as a result of whatever was emanating from the anomaly.

FF4 standalone follows. Could involve them at that time running into Namor while trying to recover artifacts from the battle. Namor blames the Surface dwellers for what happens with Thanos. Or you can have Reed studying Thanos' tech and what they encountered and bring on more of the cosmic aspects.

Haven't visited this thread in a long time, actually been paying attention to the two weak candidates we have running for president in November :(

Anyways, any solid new rumors/news as we head into SDCC?

You're a frelling genius. Wouldn't it be cool if somehow the events of IW caused the FF to get their powers. It's different than the CB origin, but I wouldn't mind something like that. It could essentially be the same origin of the FF, but caused by the battle in IW. Thanos doing some weird $#!t or something. I don't think the causation was ever explained in the CB. I think it was just "it happened". Mo bettah if there was a reason and it was attached to IW.

I wonder if Inhumans was put off BECAUSE Marvel had some idea they were getting FF back....

I should NOT be getting my hopes up like this.

Nothing solid, but little things that indicate it's at least possible.

It's been said before that changes should serve the purpose of enhancing the source material- and I think this definitely enhances the source material!

I think its brewing. Dont know when or where. But its brewing.

There was some spuculation regarding that when they announced they were putting off Inhumans.

That makes some sense. Man, I hope it's true. I've been saying forever that Inhumans and FF are a match made in heaven. I even have the comics from way back.

I guess it's all in the contract, but I can't understand why Marvel and not Fox has Inhumans as they were introduced via FF.

EDIT: I hope we get Lockjaw.

I've always said I thought that if they were to introduce the FF in IW they should have the Cosmic Energy beam be something thrown off from the Infinity Stones coming together, hitting the FF by chance. It all feeds into the MCU's "Its all connected" theme. They could even have it that the release of energy was noticed by Galactus, causing him to change direction and head towards Earth.

The only hesitation I have about this is that there is already a lot going on in IW. It's like The Avengers took the individuals and put them together and now we've got groups joining up in a movie, introducing Carol and so on......

It's been frustrating for me to see characters who first appeared in FF (Like Ronan, Klaw and Black Panther) show up in the MCU with the FF still locked out, but hopefully we still have a chance to see characters like Namor, Blackbolt, Medusa etc. brought in with the FF. I think it would really suck to see Crystal, in particular, in a world without the FF.

And yes, Lockjaw, absolutely. It would be fun to see him bouncing between Earth and Asgard . . . or maybe Earth and the alternate Earth the X-Men are on. :cwink:

Most of it is not stuff that would need a lot in IW, the Cosmic Beam would just be something that was fired off during the fighting, without bothering to show where it actually went. If they want to they could do it as stingers, have one showing the beam hitting a shuttle, show enough to let people understand who the crew are, then leave it at the shuttle crashing back towards the earth. They could then do another stinger, maybe have showing the flash of the Cosmic Beam in the sky while people run in panic, the camera then turns to show that the panic is caused my Galactus who stops and looks towards the flash curiously.

Of course they could just leave all of that out of IW and have the information be revealed in later films, none of it would need to be shown in IW, at least not enough to disrupt the flow of the main story. But I think doing both stingers would get pretty big reactions from the audience.

 It was frustrating when The Powers That Be decided we needed to confine our negative comments (which, for obvious reasons, took up 90% of the forum) to one thread. And very cool when you 'rebooted' it. :db:

. . . and I think most of us felt the "Keep Hope Alive" thread was actually very positive.

I contend that this was the one really big mistake of moderation I've seen in my time at SHH. It was a fairly transparent effort to make the more problematic Fox fans happy, so they'd stop continuously rioting over *gasp!* people not liking the reboot. In retrospect, it became a really good example of why you don't pay the Dane any Danegeld.

Hindsight has made the whole FFINO debacle just that much more hilarious. I can't believe how staunchly that movie was defended.

I can, but that is because I am *awesomely* cynical about most of the "defense", and believe it had basically nothing to do with the FF movie at all.

:funny:
True. Generally speaking, it boiled down to MCU/FF fans vs X-men/anti-MCU fans.

We should defend it again just for laughs.

I'm going to watch that movie 10 times!!

Just because there are dozens of rumors from numerous different sources all saying the same troubling things, and the studio hasn't released anything official for months, and the 3D conversion was cancelled, and the reshoots lasted as long as the original shoot, and Trank got kicked off his Star Wars gig, and the trailers all take place in a dark hallway, doesn't mean the movie will suck!

Yeah, its obvious that the people saying that are all being paid by Disney to spread lies. They have been trying to undermine the production from the start. All the things you mentioned are normal parts of the production of a film, people are reading far too much into them.

I wish Disney WOULD pay me. I don't care much who makes the movies as long as they are good movies. I like X:FC and DoFP, but I think Apocalypse was a bit of a step backwards. I'm a little worried about the long term X prospects with Fox. Clearly they completely dropped the ball with the FF reboot. For my money (literally) there's just no doubt that Marvel has done by far the best job with their movies.

Now dammit mouse.....pay up!

I find it hilarious how often I get accused of being a "Marvel zombie" because, as you're saying, they're undeniably dominating not just CBM's but Hollywood in general. If I'm a Marvel zombie then I guess the critics and general audience are as well.

True. Generally speaking, it boiled down to MCU/FF fans vs X-men/anti-MCU fans.

Back in 2005, the FF forum was filled with FF fans who had varying degrees of enthusiasm depending on how they were interpreting what we were seeing.

By 2015, most of those FF fans seemed to have scattered to the wind with only a few of us hanging around and others just checking in periodically to shake their heads in disgust.

It was bizarre and annoying that it seemed almost everyone defending the film didn't seem to care about the FF at all, but were blindly defending it because of a bizarre allegiance to a film studio.

If we had actually had some FF fans who were hoping for the best and defending what they were seeing, I could understand that and have some sympathy for them - that was me in 2005.

But they way they were willing to sacrifice the FF for the greater glory of Fox really ground my gears. :cmad:

There was a period, right up until we got that awful cast, that I hoped and believed Fox could make a great film.

It wasn't the studio but the details that were wrong in every way that convinced me there was no hope.
