The Rebooted "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) Thread - Part 6

I thought Inhumans removal had more to do with the announcement of Indy 5 being scheduled in July 2019. They had to reshuffle. Its been clear to me that they have still been heavily promoting Inhumans in other media and merchandise.

I have a feeling that Marvel may be planning on a second MCU Spider-Man film for 2019 since Sony will likely want it produced as soon as possible.

That or Dr. Strange 2, but Spider-Man seems more likely due to the Sony factor.

Not to get too off-topic but... what's the deal with "The Site That Shall Not Be Named"? Are they not a reputable source or something? Just curious to know "what's what" along with the rest of the "old-timers" :yay:.

I'm pretty sketchy on the details, so hopefully someone who knows better can jump in with the real story, but I had heard something about the other site copying stories from SHH almost verbatim and posting them as their own.

We call that a "Melania".

or a "Michelle" or "Barack"...just saying...

Sure. If you talking about the one who was plagiarized and not the one commiting plagiarism.

Anyway, introducing the events that will cause the FF to get their powers and have them in a cameo or post credits scene would be pretty awesome (IW2 maybe). The Inhumans and the FF are hand in glove. I would like to see them at odds at first, but think we can skip the Frightful Four. I'd love to see how they do Gorgon and Lockjaw.

The Avengers reaction to Rocket would be nothing compared to an enormous teleporting bulldog. I can't wait to see it. :woot:

Had a feeling something like this would happen- sorry guys....

Definitely. After the absolute disaster that was Fantfourstic, the GA needs to be aware that the this incarnation is connected to the highly acclaimed MCU.

I get the feeling after seeing Rocket and Groot they'd learn to except the Strange....Dr. Strange....sorry.

We need wait 'just' 6 years and Marvel gets back FF movie rights? :D

 I'm counting down.

We aren't going to have to wait 6 years. I don't think we'll have to wait 5 before we see you delivering mail in a FF/Inhumans movie (including prep, filming, editing, etc). Maybe you'll be an Amazon drone.

:funny:

Yep. I hope and expect we'll get something sooner than that, and actually I'm saying that Fox will have to make a decision to either go or not go within 5 years (allowing 2 years for to hire a director, write a script, do production art, film etc.) to have a film out 8 years from Fant4stic release.

So at an absolute maximum, if we don't have anything from Fox indicating they'll be rebooting within 5 years, that's it. We win.:woot:

WILL-E. Lumpkin?

That's not the movie they should be making a documentary about.

If we're being honest with ourselves, do we actually think Marvel's actively trying to get the F4 back or do we fans care more about it then they do?

A documentary of the behind-the-scenes of FFINO would be much more entertaining, even than the movie itself.

I think Marvel do want them back (I think they'd want X-Men too), but as far as trying goes it's not something they can force Fox to agree to, so they are limited to seeing if Fox are going to let the FF rights elapse, or if the opportunity arises, make a deal.

I'd guess after FFINO's epic fail Marvel may well be willing to play the long game here and see if Fox are dumb enough to pony up the cash for another effort: Wait them out and Marvel gets the FF back for nothing (plus more time passed by for the stench of the last effort to fade). If they want them back sooner I'd imagine they will/maybe already have offered a deal.

Meantime, all we can do is wait & see.

They showed desire to have some parts of it back like Galactus and Silver Surfer back in 2012. Now that they stand a great chance of getting them back wholesale, and I don't see why they wouldn't.

However, as Wobbly said, Marvel is probably more content with just waiting them out. They have a packed slate t'ill 2020 and if Fox doesn't begin production on a new film by then, Marvel gets it back for free. Even if Fox greenlits a new film, that effort is more likely to bomb even harder than the last. Either way, Marvel's in a win/win scenario.

I think that would probably all they can do, short of simply buying back the rights. I mean, I don't know the exact process that takes place for these film rights to revert (do any of us?), but all they can really do- especially with stubborn Fox- is wait for the IP to fall back in their laps. Correct me if I'm wrong, but there's really not much the can do to actually pursue the property, right?

I mean they can certainly offer to make a deal like they did with Sony, but I don't think Marvel finds the FF to be worth that much effort to go after like with Spiderman. They are co-producing Xmen tv series, and its safe to say Marvel got something out of the deal to allow that. Whether its FF rights we still don't know.

I think Doom, Galactus, Silver Surfer, etc would be worth it alone for Marvel/Disney. It just depends if Fox is willing to play ball or if Disney is willing to pony up what is needed.

I was hoping this would have been a big reveal at comic con. They got something out of the deal, we just don't know what. However I do think they would want the rights just for the pool of cosmic characters and the villains.
