The Rebooted "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) Thread - Part 6

The only thing that would make FOX look worse would be announcing they are going to make another FF film.

. . . or that time has run out and the rights have reverted with nothing to show for it.

The only way they don't end up looking like complete, incompetent fools to their shareholders is to make some kind of deal before the rights expire.

August 2021 - at that point, Fox will have two years left to have a film in theaters.

So if they're not fully committed by that date with a director in place, and script and pre-production artwork etc. well underway, they'll run out of time and Marvel will get the rights.

That's less than five years, and less than five years feels like nothing to me at this point.:woot:

There is no way they don't end up looking like complete, incompetent fools. The only question is what poison they choose to go with.

That Dorkly short is perfect. Very welll done. That needs to be spread around the fanboy world!

Newsflash........Fox already looks terrible when it come to the four. And they didn't need any help doing it.

They look pretty terrible when it comes to x-men as well, sans deadpool and the 2000 x-men (maybe dofp as well). Everything else is horrible. Sorry for the rant, but I just watched apocalypse on the plane and what a waste. I kept thinking about the potential x-men has and how they should be doing avengers numbers, but the movies are just straight up garbage.

I did think that recent fake 4chan Marvel leak did mention something that I thought was interesting regarding the FF. It suggested the idea of Feige and Marvel being given back a seat at the table with the X-Men films and helping to develop a path forward for those films in exchange for getting back the FF. Obviously someone was making that up, but that struck me as not that far fetched.

I just want someone to ask Feige about the Fantastic 4. No matter what the question is, just ask him something about them. I wonder what he'd say.

Agreed. I'm kinda surprised that no one has yet to be honest. Maybe during the Dr. Strange press tour.

I think it makes too much sense for both studios to start coordinating and crossing-over to not happen in the coming years.

We know they're working together on the TV shows and just because there hasn't been any official announcement doesn't mean they're not cooperating in some form on films.

That sounds really convoluted if you ask me. Unless there was a serious plan moving forward to reboot the entire Xverse and start from scratch and give Marvel creative control should there be any character sharing between the two companies.

That sounds like the Sony deal. It only works if FOX is ceding creative control over to Marvel and tossing everything they have established which is an utter mess. They gave Spidey a clean slate and simplified his inclusion. And lets not start talking about multiple universes unless we are trying to usher in the death of the MCU.

One of my ideas for an MCU Fantastic Four is that celebrity scientist Reed Richards used to have a TV show called "Mr. Fantastic" (a bit of Mr. Wizard, a bit of Bill Nye, maybe some Mythbusters, and a big scoop of Cosmos). So he's already got the name before he and his friends go into space and get smacked by cosmic rays.

But before any of this is officially announced, wouldn't it be a hoot if a character on "Agents of SHIELD" or "Daredevil" was all "Remember on that one episode of 'Mr. Fantastic' where..." and while he/she is going on about whatever TV experiment, the rest of us are going, "Wha--did--wait--she said WHAT???!!!!" :thud:

And then like the next day they announce the FF's new release dates. :jd::wowe:
Adding to that, one of the featured players on "Mr. Fantastic's Super Science Show"...

H.E.R.B.I.E. the robot. Because of course.

I kind of like the idea that they were gonna make a puppet for HERBIE on the show, but Reed went ahead and just made a real flying robot.

Okay, that at least give me something to work with.

1. Peter Parker is himself is extremely gullible and naive, moreso than he ever was in the comics even as a teenager Is this worse than how badly Reed Richards was mangled?

2. Peter is basically Stark's errand boy, doing anything he says and not being able to function without him Is this worse than the FF working for the government?

3. Aunt May is sexy, and young (moreso than both Ult versions of the character) Is this worse than Franklin Storm running a school for gifted children as opposed to being a physician accused of a crime he didn't commit?

4. Flash Thompson's character is nothing like his comic counterpart besides being a bully. His race doesn't even matter to me, they completely changed his character. Is this worse than Ben Grimm being scrawny and growing up on Long Island instead of being a football player who turned his life around after getting caught up with the gang his brother died with on the mean streets of Brooklyn?

5. Ned Leeds is nothing like comic/cartoon Ned Leeds but is instead a version of Ganke Lee, (Miles Morales best friend) just with the 'Ned Leeds' name slapped on top of his head. Is this worse than Johnny storm being a brilliant prodigy as opposed to a normal teenager?

6. From what we've heard from SDCC footage description, Betty Brant or should I say 'Brandt' (since they changed her last name for some reason) like Ned Leeds, is nothing like comic Betty Brant and seems to be based on Sally Avril from the Spectacular Spider-Man what with her being blonde and a popular girl at School. Is this worse than Sue Storm being a cold, emotionless ***** as opposed to a loving caring mother-figure?

7. Sally Avril of this movie is NOTHING like comic & cartoon Sally Avril. She's a science nerd & chubby like Ned Leeds and frumpy like this movie's version of MJ Is this as bad as Sue storm not going with Johnny, Reed and Ben on the mission while Victor Von Doom did?

8. MJ's character is a reversed version of her comic book counterpart, she puts on a facade and goes through a 'She's All That' type transformation. Unnecessary change to fit the character into the Hughes thing they're going for, but i'm willing to give it a chance because Zendaya is a good choice.) Is this as bad as Reed Richards completely abandoning his best friend when that friend is literally begging for his help?

9. The Vulture's design has been completely changed to the point where only his siloutte is recognizable Is this as bad as the completely unrecognizable Harvey Elder - Government agent from Fant4stic?

10. The Tinkerer has essentially been turned into an Iron Man, what with him working for Stark Industries and being fired by Stark Doom. Dr. Freakin Doom

Thanks for your input. You were at least able to offer some real information that Pannikan was unable or unwilling to offer. Hopefully those things in the final film won't be as bad as you fear. If they are, shame on Marvel. But even if Homecoming is a terrible film, I still won't hesitate to put my faith in Marvel over Fox.

The MJ and Flash changes were pretty bad.

They could make Flash into Agent Venom but I really doubt it now.

I think something like this is likely.

I can imagine something like:

1. Marvel takes control of FF in a Sony type deal and integrates those characters into the MCU while producing and controlling creative elements. Fox maintains producer credit and gets a portion of profit from those films.

2, Fox maintains control of X-Men, but Marvel takes on role as a consultant. Both studios start integrating elements into their films that put the X-Men in the same universe (but not the same Earth) that allows future crossovers in which characters can encounter one another in future small-scale crossovers (Wolverine / Thor team-up for example) and larger event films (X-Men team up with Avengers to battle Galactus for example)

I have a feeling that right now Marvel is not interested in X-men unless they had full creative control. Which is asking a lot from a studio, I'm still surprised Sony agreed to it. And I don't see a parallel universe crossover happening anytime soon, just sounds so gimmicky, unless Marvel has a really good story they want to tell, they wouldn't bother with the legal headaches.

And that's legitimate because? What legitimate leaks have ever come out of 4chan?

Thats how I feel about this situation. Especially when Marvel was pushing their Inhuman agenda. I doubt Marvel is thinking about polluting the MCU with FOX messy Xmen stench. Its just too messy unless there is a plan to relaunch the whole thing.

And Im not surprised at Sony one bit. They were in a bad spot and needed to deal in the worst way. They only got one franchise unlike FOX. FOX has an entire universe on its own that can spawn several smaller franchises. And this is just all things associated with Xmen. Marvel being a consultant on the Xfilms while FOX still has creative control and decision making is a flat out waste of time. Their only true leverage is trading the FF property for concessions on Xmen to inject more interest and growth in it.

I still say Marvel has gotten something from the FF property and can not use it until a future date. In the mean time Marvel does their part by cooperating with the launch of the tv shows.

Did I not refer to that 4chan leak as being fake? I was just saying that its claim regarding the FF struck me as something that could be a feasible option for both studios. Not that those negotiations are underway or will be soon.

I don't think there would be any character sharing, cross pollination, or merging of universes in the scenario I'm thinking of. Marvel would just be given a consultant role and have more influence over the handling of the X-Men films.

It's not even worth mentioning or addressing.

So Cumberbatch mentioned Illuminati during Strange set visits. We need a Richards for that.

And Professor Xavier. Just saying. Actually Marvel has all those Illuminati characters except Reed Richards and Professor X.

So the first couple of FF films tried to be light hearted and jokey and failed, the reboot tried to be dark and serious and failed, so what tone should a new FF film have?

I guess the best way is to do a balance, have some humor and light heartiness, but take things seriously at the important moments, don't make the film into a farce, but don't make it too dark or overly serious.

Family-oriented. Intelligent humor than lame humor.

And Namor. Or, I guess they DO have him, but it's...weird. Hence why he hasn't appeared in a movie yet. :loco:

Quesada says they have Namor, so I'm going with Quesada.
