The Rebooted "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) Thread - Part 7

What was Stan Lee's cameo in AOU? I can't even remember what it was in Civil War.

He was a FedEx delivery man near the end dropping off Steve's letter to Tony and got the name wrong calling him 'Tony Stank'.

And in AOU he was one of the old soldiers at the party (before they play who can pick up the hammer) and took a sip from Thor's special brew.

True, but Selvig also got plastered in Thor on good old beer :)

Hmm true, but phase1 was different. It was before the Disney takeover. Even Gen Ross had a Ciger and a drink in the Incredible Hulk.

Deadpool, Antman were not exactly easy sells. The General Audience don't really care about built in fanbase or if its an A-lister or not.If it looks appealing enough they will show up. I do agree that the biggest problem is the budget. I would watch a Kang origin story for example if it looks good enough.

Ant-Man was Marvel and Deadpool (in typical Fox fashion) was cheap. You can't do Silver Surfer on a Deadpool budget.

Fant4stic: made by the fans for the fans.

You know who I could see her as in the MCU? She-Hulk

Good for Jen. Her latest film is not looking so hot right now.Could use a bit of a career boost. Unlucky for her Cap Marvel is taken.

I'm sure Marvel won't mind paying her 20 mil per film till she gets bored and moves on after only a few films.Clever girl.

Oh I don't think she needs a career boost. I'd say she's currently still the biggest actress working in Hollywood. Although it would be wise to avoid starring in too many mediocre films such as X-Men Apocolypse if she wants to remain a big star.

But I just checked and you're right, Passengers is only at 33% on RT so far! Ouch JLaw and Chris Pratt! Well, at least Pratt has Guardians 2 to help cleanse the palate, so hopefully JLaw has sth much better on the horizon as well.

Maybe can play Sue Storm when Marvel gets the rights to FF back, if they haven't already with the TV deal. ;)

Sue Storm is a good call. I am starting think Marvel did not get the FF for the tv deal. They may get it eventually but it has not happened yet. There is money to be made with tv shows and maybe Marvel are happy with their cut.

Definitely don't want JLaw as Sue Storm. I'd rather she stays away from the MCU. I'm bored of her. Get a different face for Sue who isn't overly ubiquitous. I wouldn't mind someone like Blake Lively.

The cost of merely altering the powers of NGTW was a living planet. And though the deal was rejected, the cost of extending the DD live action rights was Galactus and the Silver Surfer. I highly doubt Disney/Marvel ripped up the 1993 agreement and handed over character rights to FOX without getting rights back in exchange. I don't think a minority stake in an FX cult show would have gotten it done. We shall see.

If Jlaw acts stubborn and starts making demands in the MCU like she does in the x- franchise then I'm sure Marvel will follow the precedent set by Howard, Edward Norton and some directors. Marvel don't play around.

Unless you're RDJ in case of which they bend over and spread them wide. :o

My guess is that Fox only negotiated with Marvel Entertainment not Marvel Studios. They are very separate these days. Characters rights were probably not on the agenda I'm not sure if Uncle Perlmutter cares. Most Wanted, Damage Control, Agent Carter are dead while Agents of Shield is on life support may have something to do with making the deal? I don't know. Just a theory.

JLaw as Sue would be made the leader of the FF and probably the brains too.

Thor and Selvig were drinking boilermakers in Thor, not beer. More accurately, the drinks were "depth charges" with a shot of whiskey dropped into a pint of beer. The two of them certainly didn't stop at just one drink, either.

The network shows are not in great shape, though Inhumans is a big swing at the bat for Marvel and ABC. But with Defenders, Punisher, Cloak & Dagger, Runaways and 2nd and 3rd seasons of the Netflix shows coming up, it's not like Marvel TV is hurting for product. In my opinion there was no reason to share the wealth with FOX unless a rights transfer was involved.

I won't accept anyone as Sue except Alice Eve!

In all seriousness though, if it isn't her I'll be disappointed but, whoever (if it happens) gets the role I'll eventually come around to it. Marvel has too good a track record

I think a Disney owned entity would settle for one or more of the below:

1) Rights transfer
2) Higher percentage fee of the gross for upcoming movies
3) Change in the reversal dates (either a hard expiry date, a lower number of years between movies, or both)

I don't think they would settle for just money. They want those rights 100% in-house eventually. The only thing that throws me off is how much they apparently gave up to simply have spiderman in the MCU. Very un-Disney like.

That doesn't mean Fox dealt in the rights for those characters either.

I doubt Marvel would ever be interested in JLaw, she simply would cost far too much for them to ever consider her. Marvel are fans of getting actors into multifilm contracts before they become big, while their asking prices are low. They like to turn actors into big budget names rather than using actors that already demand huge salaries.
