It's fine, we can carry it on until someone yells at us lol. If Raimi and Co. managed to find a way to make EVERY SINGLE VILLAIN have a personal connection to Peter, then Goddard can make the Oscorp connection work. Each and every one of them has their petty grievances and insecurities, and maybe each of them are screwed over by Oscorp in a separate way, like Max and Harry. Spidey will be included in some respect I imagine, it's just the extent that we don't know. The fact that Garfield knew anything at all about the script clues me into that.
Thought I would bring the conversation here, because I know there's people who want that thread to be specifically what it was made for.
I suppose you're right about them making the Oscorp connection. Another important factor that has yet to be explained, though, is Fiers and his relation to the villains. He's an aspect of the last two films that could help make some kind of sense out of all this if they elaborated on him. Let's say they go with the Oscorp route:
- Did Fiers know Harry would get ousted?
- What does Fiers know about Peter? There's obviously a connection there if you go back to the end of TASM1. However, it would be a real drag if they brought back the parent story-line at this point.
- Is Fiers on the side of Menken or Harry? Obviously Fiers has known about "Special Projects" all along. How is he now using that as his base of operation with Harry if Menken is in charge of Oscorp? Or are these plans being carried on without Menken's knowledge? All Menken seemed to want was corporate power, so I can't see how he would be involved with the group.
Do you see what I'm getting at? Fiers is the X factor that will finally need to be explained in S6. Those are just questions off the top of my head, but they're the reason why I think S6 provides a little bit of breathing space in order to fill the vague holes that the end of TASM2 left us with.
The villains will also need motives beyond the ones they gave for Harry and Max, as I think doing so will make things too redundant. Rhino, for example, was plotting
against Oscorp, but he somehow got wrapped up in their plans to get back at Spidey (I have a bad feeling they won't have an explanation for that, though).
