Because Sandman wasn't in the animated series. That's why they made the water gold to make it look like sand.

For a second I was waiting to see what he/she was going to do for the shot of Sandman in sand form falling on the cops then I remembered Sandman wasn't in the series.

the sand coming from the ceiling scene is from mysterios escape in the season 4 episode haunting of mary jane watson. the episode is not that bad, and the escpae scene is pretty cool, even if it doesnt make sense^^

sandman was not in the show because marvel FORBID the producers to make him. back in those days, teh cameron movie was to be made, adn eh wanted electro and sandman. so semper (shows producer) was not allowed to do those.
but he did electro later in teh show and got fired ebcause of it. he was not on the show anymore when the last episodes aired. a shame. he would have down his version of maximum carnage, bringin mary jane back. damnit...

Hahah that was funny! Oh how that brought back memories.... Every time I see the Venom episodes I can't help but laugh, knowing Hank Azaria is also the voice of Abu on the Simpsons.

I really wish they would have used Sandman in the series, instead of Hydroman.

wasn't there rumors, of Arnold Schwarzenegger being up for the role of sandman in that movie, at the time that would of been pretty cool. instead we ended up getting him as Mr. freeze. lol
