Y'know, it's a tough call. The Hulk, Sentry and Silver Surfer all seem to have the potential for limitless strength...however, oldwizard.com makes an interesting point when it compared the Silver Surfer to Thor (they list Thor as #1). There's Thor's experience in combat. They also noted that Thor has matched the strength of the Hulk on a number of occasions and that with the Odin Force he is able to augment even those strength levels. Also, he has the belt of strength which doubles his strength. Come to think of it, I do recall Thor #25 (second run) where, with the belt of strength Thor took on an ultra powerful Thanos, who I think had the infinity gauntlet (?) and was directing a concentrated blast at Thor that he just shattered a planet with. Thor kept coming in the face of the blast and knocked Thanos out when he got to him. It was also pointed out that both times Thor and the Surfer fought, Thor won and that he also defeated a hungry Galactus. Galactus! So I'm not sure who the strongest is anymore...coin toss....
The Hulk got his ass kicked a lot in Planet Hulk. It was a great story, but I wouldn't really call it recommended reading if you want to see the Hulk prove that he's the strongest thing to ever shamble out of the primordial goop.
Thanos did not have the Infinity Gauntlet, he had gained extraordinary power by uniting a bunch of other cosmic talismans and drinking the tears of the Designate from the Chalice of Sorrows or something like that. I don't remember the specifics, but if you want to get really technical, it was retconned out as just a clone of Thanos in Jim Starlin's Thanos Quest because that's what Jim Starlin does whenever anyone has the audacity to make another character beat Thanos at anything, ever.
Yes, I'm still bitter over that.![]()
The second fight is suspect because Thor had a power boost and wasn't holding back while the Surfer very much was, but the first fight is a clear-cut victory for Thor. Loki even amplified the Surfer's power and Thor didn't really fight back right away.Thor's experience in battle is constantly brought up, but i always say the same, this experience doesnt help defeat the Hulk whenever they fight. Thor very rarely beats Hulk, and Hulk has never beaten The Silver Surfer, so this leads me to believe that SS would be too much for Thor. I know you say Thor has beaten SS, but I dont know the circumstances of their fights so cant comment.
Jealousy, thy name is Starlin.

Nah, I'm pretty sure Skaar will remain more awesome than his daddy. There's really not that much you can do with a super-strong ****** in the middle of modern-day New York that's better than a super-strong barbarian on a savage frontier world.
I say Thor versus Surfer , Thor wins, Thor versus Galactus is not even a fight. Galactus is a force of nature he can't be stopped, he can't be bargained with by no normal means.
What do you mean "in the past"? These fights are almost always popularity contests. That's why the Hulk beats Thor all the time and Wolverine beats the Hulk every now and then.
Anyway, the first Surfer/Thor fight was in the late '60s, I think, in Silver Surfer #4.
So the clear cut victory for Thor happened in SS's own title?
Further evidence of what i've always believed. Thor is Marvel's Mightiest Superhero.
It's been a while since I read it, but I'm fairly certain he attacked Thor with a decent amount of force. Loki had convinced the Surfer that Thor was evil.Silver Surfer had I won't do no harm attitude back then, for example he was fighting one of the galactic beings but he didn't do anything to defend himself as long as nobody else was hurt.

I realise that and I think he will be the stongest on Sakaar. I just however do not see the confrontation showing the Hulk to be weaker unless they do some type of match and then rematch. If the Hulk is weaker then Skaar and Skaar was on earth, what would be the use of the Hulk. Skaar is essentially the Hulk wwith an extra power.
