I guess Im the only one who finds the idea of Superman wearing a sculpted muscle suit to be ridiculous.

Any padding should slightly compliment Cavills build... not create **** that aint there with padding. It more sculpted than the previous suit...

The origins of the suit are Kryptonian. Underwear to go UNDERNEATH battle armor. It makes sense and could use suspension of belief of the padding to provide added protection.

Plus, we saw how ridiculous Routh looked in his Michael Phelps swimming gear. That fabric actually took most of Routh's muscle away. The MoS and BvS suit are tremendous at highlighting Cavill's body.

It's not supposed to be a muscle suit though is it? We're meant to believe that those are his actual muscles.

It's Kryptonian underwear that goes beneath battle armor. Jor-EL and Zod had similar suits with similar structure and padding. Regardless, I think it looks amazing.

perhaps the Kryptonian suit is advanced enough to to shadow/follow the wearers musculature for an ultra comfortable fit and thereby highlights the muscle build a slight bit?

But either way...Who cares ! it looks great ! Better than any superman in the past and as close to the comics as possible.

I was wondering, did they change the cape's fabric as well for BvS?

Based on what we've seen so far...I like the MOS suit better. The new one isn't terrible - as a matter of fact, it looks better than I thought it would - but the original was perfect.

I hope so.

I don't know why, but the BvS suit looks like a massive improvement over the Mos suit, even though they're mostly the same. The colors in that scene where he catches the truck also seem brighter than they do everywhere else.

The colours are pretty much the same. The difference is the cinematographer and filters used.

I mean look at it:

IMO, A definite improvement over the MOS Suit, can not wait for more:ilv::hmr:
It could always change once I see the film, but the upgrades on the suit look awesome. And I'm a huge fan of the first suit. The main thing I like is the obvious effort to brighten the colors. But just slightly.

But I also hope that cool blue filter, that dark filter used in MOS is continued in BvS. Just that whole aesthetic I'm a sucker for.

Sorry to bring this up, but although Cavill is rocking a pretty severe part, I think his hair looks rather nice.

not that i have a problem with it anyway - factually, i'm having some hairline issues myself so i can relate, but....i think cavill's hairline in what i've seen for BvS untill now is worse than the regresing hairline we've seen supes' donning for MoS.

A bit surprising imho, as for cinematography and special/make up effects really isn't any of a deal to imitate or improve henry's hairline at all.

critically i must say his hair looks worse; it looks flatter and more 'regresing' compared to MoS; where i really did not notice any of that by that much. His 'gel packed' hair in the shots for now look like he's got less hair, so, from a 'superman being super-man' i think it's a bit wrong to not artifically make him have more hair.

in reality though, i could care less, he's not bald, he doesn't have a baldy spot, he isn't grey, and he looks great and very superman-ish.

anyway, as for the suit:

is that superman S bigger then it was in MoS? sorry if it has been discussed before. To me, i get the impression the 'hope symbol' is quite a tad larger than in MoS.

looking at all these gifs makes and especially this one makes me realise something;

i would really, really, really like Zack Snyder to do a new Matrix movie, perhaps more than one. this BvS has all the ingredients of that awesome cinematography. would be amazing

I think the suit is just supposed to be very close to the body.

John-An actually mentioned the possibility of nanotech suit in the future, which I like.

To me, it doesn't look better or worse. Just different.

If you held a gun to my head and forced me to choose, however, I'd probably go with the MOS hair.

Well, it's shorter, so his widow's peak is going to look more prominent. I also don't think it generally looks flat, but I can see why you would think so if you're comparing it to the MOS hair.

No. It's actually much smaller.

I don't know how much is due to the new suit and how much because Larry Fong is the cinematographer, but look how much more colorful BvS suit is. And he is actually standing in shadow there.

It's the cinematography. Under natural light, the colours are pretty much identical. Just compare the outdoor daytime spy pics from the set of both films.

that cape is executed and shaped so bad and weak it makes superman looks incompetent and a bit impotent.....how did this pass screening to actually be concidered useable?!

New suit's blue and red pops a lot more. As pretty much all the colors did in the teaser. Both suits look great. Supes looks incredibly iconic in just the few shots we've seen. This is going to be a Watchmen-esque visual faithful translation of TDK Returns. I feels it.

Yeah, for most part that is true. I do think that the blue is more vibrant on BvS suit though.

Yeah, just a touch more vibrant, which is why I said "almost identical". I think it is pretty clear that the big difference is the cinematography. We don't have filters and lighting this time that turns the yellow silver when the blue pops or the blue charcoal when the red and yellow pops. The filters used in Man of Steel were horrible. The only scenes that color-wise looked like a Superman movie should were the childhood flashbacks and the Krypton scenes.

I agree, completely.

I had no problem with the filter as much as many other people seem to, but it did always seem to kill a color from one or the other spectrum in the suit.

BvS visually looks like how I originally expected MOS to be. With the visuals displayed in the trailer I appreciate the costume more.

This has been going on ever since Spider-man.

Lighting and color correction are very important. MOS had a blue to bleached out effect. This caused the colors to become muted. They basically removed the warm. You up the saturation just a little and bring back the warm and you got your bright colors. For them it's even more noticeable since they have the raw footage.

Now I bring up Spider-man because some folks didn't get the power of all of this when it came to the colors of the costume.

In my mind, they never really need to brighten the actual suit unless you know it's black.

The S?

It is smaller but not a great deal. They did other things though since it seems to maintain the same proportions while still being smaller. I'm wondering is the shield is the same size but the actual S is tightened up. It's clearly an S and not a Kryptonian symbol.

Muscles? Look we saw what happened with returns. The material kills all muscle definition. Now in universe the idea is that they are his muscles. Just like the Spider-man suit from the Raimi movies. I take a good looking product over "reality".
