I try very hard to stay out of this thread for a lot of reasons, but I'm in a mood to post, so I'll throw in some comments. I never was bothered by the armored look that Burton started. I think it looked best (design wise) in Batman Begins, and The Dark Knight seemed to be Nolan's way of keeping it and moving away from the now uninspired method of implementing it on screen.
As for symbols and colors, I like both. I like the simplicity of the plain black logo, but love the splash of color in the oval. I think the oval looked the best in Batman Forever. I think the reason the plain black bat hasn't worked so well as the oval on screen is the lack of contrast. With the suit not being a different color, it can't stand out. This is especially compounded in TDK with the faceted logo blending in with the faceted suit and being the same color on top of that.
The third topic that gets discussed so much is compromise and suggestions. For me, an ideal movie suit would have been the BB suit, but broken up to allow the mobility of the TDK suit. I also would have blended leather in with the armor. Something along the lines of a blend between the TDK suit's sections and UD Replicas' BB motorcycle suit. That thing just makes the BB suit WORK.
