Seriously though, that's a set picture. In the actual movie footage, he doesn't look bad.

Granted, this is nowhere near a full body shot, but he doesn't look anywhere near as cartoony as he does in the set pictures.

No, that's a picture of Evans in full Cap costume on the set... and it's a pretty goddamn clear, straight-on, head-to-toe, good look at what the Avengers Cap suit actually looks like.

I thought the retro Captain America suit worked pretty damn well and I know the first look at the modern Cap suit got some decent pop in this thread (though admittedly I wasn't all that enamored with it and that second pic of Cap sitting around the SHIELD table didn't help).

Now we get a really good look and I'm stumped as to how they can get from that retro suit to this:

... it's like the de-serum'd the guy and pumped it all into the gloves and boots.

That suit is terrible. Should've just stuck with the suit from the first film which was pretty awesome.

I think the suit itself is fine. In fact, I love that suit.

However, I will concede that the helmet, in combination with the skintight suit, makes his head look comically large. As a result, it kinda drowns out Evans' physique.

In my opinion, the mask should have been made of the same material as the rest of the suit. And the ears should have been exposed. For the life of me, I don't know why they didn't do that - considering the Captain is sporting exposed ears in most of the promotional art, and looks so much better as a result of it.

I've basically said the same thing in the Avengers thread. The fact that Evans has lost much of the mass he gained for TFA, combined with the additional bulk of the gauntlets, makes his arms look even smaller in comparison.
I'm jacked up for the Avengers movie, but this is a horrible, horrible costume. The mask bunches Evans' cheeks up, making his face puffy as well.

I don't think it's necessarily the helmet. It's probably Chris Evans head. I mean, first of all, he doesn't exactly have the most heroic facial expression in this picture and also, the lighting is terrible.

Going back to the batsuit, this is why the Begins suit looked a bit "cheap" in a considerably lit room. It's because lighting can really screw up the demeanor of an actor in costume, and Batman is all about using the shadows to amplify his inhumanity. In The Dark Knight, we got a suit that, while maybe not as menacing, works in darkness and light.

I love that costume. Its the helmet that brings it all down IMO. It just looks odd and I can't put my finger on why.

The forehead looks too long, it's sitting on his face to where it's scrunching it, and his eye holes are exposed. The reason why they used makeup around the eyes on the Batman movies, is to make it look like it blends in more. His eyes are so exposed, that it looks more like a cheap Halloween costume, than a multimillion dollar movie.

He looks like he's 12 in that mask....

Back to Batman, I hope the reboot gives us a suit that looks like the comic suit. I'm tried of black rubber suits. :\

The helmet makes him look like a geek. It would actually be really effective for a superhero who is a geek, like Ted Kord.

I'm just going to say that in this shot the new suit looks loads goofier than even the USO suit in TFA. They dropped the ball on the helmet, it's simply poorly designed, Evans' head isn't that big. His cheeks look as though he was caught in the middle of a large meal

You rag on Evan's suit, but if anyone says anything about the Catwoman suit you say 'oh there's more to it' or if they insult Bane's voice, 'they'll fix it in post!!1!'

To repeat a phrase people throw around here a lot: It'll look better in the final product.

Plus, it clearly looks much better in the OFFICIAL teaser picture. As you guys like to say: it'll look better in the final product. :P

Next year seems like it'll be great all around, IMO. Dredd seems like it'll be a good film and a faithful adaptation, Avengers looks great, TDKR looks great, ASM looks fantastic, and Ghost Rider looks.....better.

I'm personally ok with the dark knight suit, but yeah alot of people don't like it. For me though the new cap costume is just plain horrible, he looks like a boy in a dress up costume, the costume from first avenger was way better, while i understand they wanted to update it, it just seems they ruined what was great about the first avenger costume.

On a side note, i'm not a dredd fan, but from the pictures it looks pretty interesting so far.
