The emblem on TDK suit is okay, but it's literally lost in a jigsaw. There are so many plates and designs that the emblem is hardly noticeable.

Saw this on DeviantArt. I actually kinda like the Batman look on this one. The blue and grey looks better than I thought it might ... and the bat is bigger. Anyone know of a better shot of this batsuit?

JB

All he did was put the BB logo on the TDK suit and turn it blue and grey. I like the symbol, but blue just looks beyond silly.

Batman glides on his cape because Nolan/Goyer decided that that was an acceptable way to explain the cape's inclusion in the costume. They could have made similar choices for a visible symbol or even trunks if they had wanted to.
The cape idea makes sense though...what sense would trunks ever make? Ever?

If they plan on making a JLA movie that doesn't look goofy as hell, they really have their work cut out for them. That looks laughable and Smallville-esque.

Yeah the blue on the suit looks silly & I think the Superman suit won't have the yellow behind the S

In relation to the cape... as an integral part of the suit... a harness... which is the only way for that flying bat thing to have half a chance of not plummeting to the ground, or for the grapple gun to work for that matter. In any case, the "trunks" wouldn't be undies over tights of course but rather something that would give the appearance of the look... like how the harness straps on the Captain America suit give the impression of the red stripes.

People want Batman to wear briefs on film? Seriously?

To be honest with you I really don't know. I've heard people say that it could work but never anyone flat out say "I want Batman to wear his trunks in the films".

Who knows for sure? Not me

I don't think that S is indicative of anything.

It's been used twice in official advertising in conjunction with Man of Steel, so it may be. It is the closest we have got to the official symbol, but I hope Zack attack has an original \S/ for the film.

Well, no actually. Briefs, undies, pajamas, etc., is the simplistic approach to the problem taken by those who seem incapable of thinking otherwise when referring to those who hold the opinion that a more traditional Batman look is possible in a movie costume.

I want the cowl, cape, logo, gloves, and boots to be black, the suit to be sufficiently gray so as to appear in contrast, and for there to be a transition from the thighs to the torso—which could simply be an area of the suit with no rubber glued to the naughty bits—that would appear darker than the body suit so as to give the illusion of the archetypal Batman look.

There are no trunks here. There is nothing worn over the armor. There is nothing to be explained nor need to rationalize why someone would wear trunks. There is nothing except for an undersuit—which in one form or another has been part of every Batman costume seem on film—that under favorable lighting conditions suggests that enduring image of The Batman.

The trunks would work on film if designed correctly. Nite Owl had them in Watchmen, but you don't really notice them in the film because their design works so well with the suit. If they were designed in such a way that they'd stand out, of course it would look awful.

Watchmen had such beautiful costumes. It's a shame Nolan won't take notes from Nite Owl for Batman.

I actually prefer the brown, big pouched utility belts over all the yellow and capsule tech type utility belts.

I prefer the pouch utility belts (whether it be Batman: Year One-style or a Nolan-style pouch) as well, in dark colors like brown/bronze or black.

The gray should be darker.

The trunks would work perfectly if done well. The trunks just look better.

I completely disagree. They look worse. Batman doesn't need them, they came from Superman's costume.

If the GA accepts a guy wearing a cowl with pointy ears and a cape, they'd accept the trunks as well. Are trunks really sillier than a cape?

Yes, trunks are sillier than a cape. The cape, especially as Batman wears it in the comics (draped over his shoulders and body), breaks up his human outline, which greatly assists camouflage.

In the 1970's and 1980's people routinely work gym shorts over sweat pants while working out. When's the last time a lot of people wore capes? Given that, how can anyone expect the GA to accept capes on superheroes? Or accept superheroes for that matter.

They would accept them, but I don't really need the trunks on film.

No, they don't.

And there's a reason no one wears shorts over sweat pants while working out anymore; they realized they did nothing and they looked stupid.

Agreed.

No matter how they make them look, I never care to see the trunks done on film, the comics that's another story. Let me ask what practical purpose do the trunks serve? As far as I know they serve no purpose whatsoever except for how batman was originally drawn at the time when all superheros visually had them.

Agreed.

What "practical" purpose does the chest logo serve?

I think of it as extra armor.

Capes are silly.

But the goddamn Batman wears a goddamn cape... perhaps to conceal that fact that he's wearing trunks???

If you want to look like a bat for the purposes of using psychological warfare on your enemies, capes are not silly, they are necessary. Bats need wings.

All he did was put the BB logo on the TDK suit and turn it blue and grey. I like the symbol, but blue just looks beyond silly.

Interesting idea, but I don't care for the trunks.
