Thomas: Died inspired Gotham

Dent: Died inspired Gotham.

the writing's on the wall, folks.

And if its done right it could be absolutely awesome. But I know how many on here totally hate the idea so as to not get into a *****ing contest thats all Ill say.

I don't know why that's so funny, cause Nolan has said time and time again that he doesn't have a real understanding of these characters, and that's the reason why he has Goyer around. Sure, Goyer may not be the best at writing a script, but he's the reason why these Batman movies are the way they are. Without him, Nolan would truly be lost on a lot of things.
Umm, she was laughing at rogue_agent misspelling Goyer's name (probably on purpose) not the quote itself.

Avengers BP nomination?! what is this poppycockdoodle!? Soon you'll have peasants walking amongst us like people!

:o Avengers fans need to learn their place...This is Nolan Empire.

Could be awesome for some folks (me included), but could also create massive polarization with Batman fans and even critics/general audiences. I think it would be the ballsiest move ever in a superhero movie.

Died. Inspired Gotham to a degree. Gotham still ends up in the pits. If only there were a constant force for good around in Gotham who could help maintain some kind of equilibrium. :oldrazz:

Aw-kward... :woot:

I agree with what you said though. Goyer is the one who convinced Nolan to make Crane wear the Scarecrow mask, as far as I remember.

Nolan knows this Batman doesn't live eternally between 22 pages month in month out, year to year...

This Batman has a beginning and an end. Simple as that...

Think of it as a War (on Crime).

Falcone - won
Ra's - won
Joker - tie...
Two-Face - lost
Bane - WIN?

Bruce may not have won ever battle, but I think he will win the war. Bane will be the peak of the evil in Gotham. It's all been leading to this, the final battle. There will be no need for a Batman post-Bane. It's not the comics, and I appreciate that. It's nice to hopefully get a bookend to a wonderful silver screen comic book hero for once.

If Avengers gets a BP nom

Slightly Off-Topic... but that's why no other CBM could possibly top Nolan's trilogy (V for Vendetta, Watchmen and X2 are right up there) for me. These films go beyond epic-scale battles and stunning visuals/SFX. To me, Nolan created a 'symbol' for the genre -- a hero that tackles relatable issues.

I know some out there are looking for an 'escape' when arriving to their films, but I don't want that all the time. I want a CBM that actually has the balls to deal with socio-political issues.

I assume it is why the critics and general audience adored and embraced TDK. It went beyond Heath Ledger's acting and the classic Batman-Joker clash. So, as stellar as The Avengers will be, I just view Nolan's TDKR as a completely different animal, and I think the general audience and critics will too.

True. But my point was its all about how its done and what all transpires leading up to the event. I truly think they could do it in a way that could leave people breathless and not be very polarizing at all because of how awesome it is. But I agree it would be very ballsy.

OR if only the person who dies and inspires dies whilst fighting for Gotham in an actual battle side to side with Gothamites... :o

It's very different circumstances this time around.

Batman's immortal like the Highlander? He doesn't die of old age? :wow:

You guys are all wrong. :cwink:

I know the ending of this movie. I wish I hadn't found out, but I absolutely know. And you're all wrong.

By all means, don't believe me, but I already told Raganork, he chose to not read it... I assure you, it's been spoiled to me.

Alfred said it himself.

Alfred Pennyworth: In the depression, your father nearly bankrupted Wayne Enterprises combating poverty. He believed that his example could inspire the wealthy of Gotham to save their city.
Bruce Wayne: Did it?
Alfred Pennyworth: In a way. Their murders shocked the wealthy and the powerful into action.

Also; Bruce Wayne: "People need dramatic examples to shake them out of apathy, and I can't do that as Bruce Wayne. As a man, I'm flesh and blood. I can be ignored, I can be destroyed. But as a symbol … as a symbol, I can be incorruptible. I can be everlasting." Everlasting; like Galileo, Picasso, Heath Ledger, Henry David Thoreau, Poe, Kafka...

The only thing is...the marketing up to this point has made us almost believe batman will die....usually when this is the case the exact opposite happens. Will the bluff truly be called?

If true, I feel for you. That would suck knowing the end of this thing 3 months in advance. LOL what a waste.

That's what I wonder too. Normally it is the opposite.

haha, so defensive.

It's funny because of the Typo which called Goyer Gorey.
It wasn't defensive, I just thought that's what she was laughing at, so I was just letting her know. So, my bad for trying to keep people informed.

Just as long as bruce ISN'T in some house on the hills with selina all snugged up and living a happy life. That would make me gag.
