OR if only the person who dies and inspires dies whilst fighting for Gotham in an actual battle side to side with Gothamites... :o

It's very different circumstances this time around.

:woot:

Side to side with Gothamites, against other Gothamites who in their desperation for a fairer society turned to the help of a mass murdering terrorist? It's a bit more difficult than just good vs evil.

I don't actually think he'll remain as Batman, but the idea that one man's death can make things permanently better is a ridiculous notion to me. Nolan was right with Thomas and Harvey; it can help ease things for a while, but eventually corruption, violence and selfishness will arise. It's inherent to human nature unfortunately.

Just as long as bruce ISN'T in some house on the hills with selina all snugged up and living a happy life. That would make me gag.

:hehe:

I kinda hope he does something like that, just so I can see the meltdown on here. :woot:

Another thing to maybe consider

Thomas: Murdered.

Dent: (for all intents and purposes) Murdered.

Gotham is inspired and reverts back.

So... Who is more akin to Thomas and Dent to the people of Gotham? Wayne or Batman?

What different can be done in these deaths to keep the reverting from happening again?

You guys are all wrong. :cwink:

I know the ending of this movie. I wish I hadn't found out, but I absolutely know. And you're all wrong.

By all means, don't believe me, but I already told Raganork, he chose to not read it... I assure you, it's been spoiled to me.

And...?

It wasn't defensive, I just thought that's what she was laughing at, so I was just letting her know. So, my bad for trying to keep people informed.

:funny:

But all you did was AGREE with the text you quoted. You're not informing if you're essentially repeating the information.

I can imagine the ending, Bane is dead, Gotham is safe and Bruce and Selina are married. Both of them snuggled up on the sofa in the manor watching TV. Then see the signal out of the window. Jump up "lets get in our suits..and honey no jewel stealing this time". "Of course not baby", then she looks at the camera and winks and blows a kiss before they both ride off on their bikes toward the city. Then text saying "The End...or The Beginning".

To be fair, anything could be made to look good with Pfister, Nolan and Zimmer. Just on paper i don't like the idea.

I mean if you had told me, the ending of TDK is batman running away from the cops after a talk fest with harvey and gordon, in which harvey dies by getting pushed by Bruce. I'd be pretty disappointed, I know I always wanted it to end with Batman and Joker in a room talking after a kickass fight between them in some fairground.

Ah the good ol days of speculating TDK.

Epic. :woot:

Because I thought she was laughing at it, as if she didn't believe it. How is that hard to understand?

Batman's immortal like the Highlander? He doesn't die of old age? :wow:

Did no one see the :oldrazz: ?

Alfred said it himself.

Alfred Pennyworth: In the depression, your father nearly bankrupted Wayne Enterprises combating poverty. He believed that his example could inspire the wealthy of Gotham to save their city.
Bruce Wayne: Did it?
Alfred Pennyworth: In a way. Their murders shocked the wealthy and the powerful into action.

Also; Bruce Wayne: "People need dramatic examples to shake them out of apathy, and I can't do that as Bruce Wayne. As a man, I'm flesh and blood. I can be ignored, I can be destroyed. But as a symbol … as a symbol, I can be incorruptible. I can be everlasting." Everlasting; like Galileo, Picasso, Heath Ledger, Henry David Thoreau, Poe, Kafka...

Yes their murder shocked the wealthy into action for a time, but eventually Gotham reverted to type.

And as for the Bruce quote, how many times in BB and TDK was he actually right when he thought of his purpose and role as Batman? The whole point of TDK was to show the consequence of his extreme example, and those consequences left him in a much darker place.

Rocketman why would u even spoil the ending for yourself? Why?!

Honestly, I'm not upset. Seeing the movie in context, on opening night, is going to make me completely forget anything I already knew. This movie is bigger than its ending, I feel. It's going to be an amazing experience.

Well, the people who informed you about the Prologue weren't exactly right, were they? :o

Because I thought she was laughing at it, as if she didn't believe it. How is that hard to understand?

Her text was pretty clear that she did believe it. Even with the laughing emoticon it would only have made it seem as if she found the information laughable.

In the quoted text she EXPLAINS that Goyer's participation was, in fact, substantial.

Then in your post you explain...Goyer's participation was, in fact, substantial.

Why was it that hard to understand that when you originally read it?

:funny:

yeah thats pretty....horrible. I understand the want to know some stuff. But its Nolans last batfilm. You really wanna go into it knowing the ending before youve seen anything? Good lord why. (Although I do wonder how Mr. Rocketman managed to get ahold of the ending 3 months ahead of time, but Ill save my doubting for another time as to not start an argument)

Why is it so hard to let go of petty arguments? :o

Was this from a more reliable source than the one who explained the prologue to you? :cwink:

Goyer gave us the BB script, so he must have a good feel for Batman. I havent seen any movie he directed, but however bad they were, I would be interested in seeing how we would direct a Batman movie. It would probably be like Begins without a restraining realism.

Is there an award for SHH Lamest Argument of the Year? If so, Trav and Rag have it wrapped up and it's only April. :p

And that was my entire point to my original post, which is why I said, "I don't understand what is so funny about it".
