Well we see him near the end of the film during the big chase when he jumps on the back of the HEMETT and then again after the HEMETT crashes as Bats is preparing to fly the device off. So it has to be early on I'd think. To give him time to recover. Maybe when Bruce and the other rich people are kidnapped?

Tbh, as much as I love those two guys I'm not that bothered. Bale, Hardy, Oldman, Caine, Freeman, JGL, Hathaway, Cotillard, Neeson, Modine... Any combination of these people in a scene together will be extraordinary

I was going to say maybe James Jr gets traumatised by his ordeal with Two Face and grows up to be bad and tells Bane about it, but I just remembered, he was sane enough to squeak his orders for "Bitman" to come back and not run away at the end so he must be ok.
