The Dark Knight Rises The TDKR General Discussion & Speculation Thread (NOT A LOUNGE)

Alfred always was the one for orders first, life second.

He was 100% behind his military. Then, the Waynes. And, now Batman.

That is true, but it will be interesting to see the narrative stretched to the limit. Eight years have rolled by and Alfred finally thinks enough is enough even for him. It would show how burnt out and frozen in time Bruce has become. He could give Bruce advice but he doesn't listen.

You have to watch this. The same person who uploaded TDKR trailer which now has over 15 million views, uploaded the trailer again only now it's been slowed down to being 14 minutes long. It's actually kind of creepy:

From the description on that video:

Following the death of District Attorney Harvey Dent, Batman assumes responsibility for Dent's crimes to protect Dent's reputation and is subsequently hunted by the Gotham City Police Department. Eight years after the events of The Dark Knight, Batman returns to Gotham, where he encounters the mysterious Selina Kyle while stopping the villain Bane's plans to destroy the city.

Hollywood has made a knack for popularizing love/air taps in practically all their action movies, but this was particularly obnoxious:

I can't believe that made the final cut. That's probably a good 2-3 feet between where the headbutt was supposed to connect. Terrible display of choreography and shooting. :down

It's Whedon's style. Apparently, you have to possess an acquired taste for the scene. :o

What a way to propagate the unfair perception that girls can't fight for s--t. I sincerely hope Nolan does Anne more justice, in spite of his spotty fight direction and the awkward inclusion of stilettos.

I sense the stilettos will be utilized in a malicious manner. I doubt they were included just for the sake of Catwoman appearing 'hotter'.

Nolan's unsound fight choreography really has me worried for this film. TDK's choreography was just horrendous -- the worst I've seen from any Bat flick to date. With that said, Inception featured some improvements in that department. So who knows at this endeavor?

That 14 minute slowed down Rises trailer reminds me of Inception, with the truck falling off the bridge into the water. :funny:

I think TDK's choreography wasn't great, but I think Batman Begins was worse. I know some people try to justify it but I never bought the arguments.

So do we have any idea as to when we might see the next trailer for this beast of a movie?

Either way I cant wait to see Anne in those stilettos in the final film :hrt:
 Nolan's fight scenes have always been lacking for me. Their just so slow paced and choreographed. Tom Hardy said he had to explain to a director before how a real fight would go down, maybe that'll happen again :lmao:

Totally agreed. I'd love a graphic novel called Pennyworth. :word:

Actually while you mention that, has there ever been any reference to Alfred's surname being Pennyworth in the Nolan films? I think as a comic snob it would annoy me if they left that out

I's say the Avengers would be a safe bet. Hopefully online before that.

Wait, what? Source?

Yeah with a director in one of his earlier films. It may have been Refn from Bronson but I'm not entirely sure. The source is my memory. It was on a British chat show. I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to find. It was back when Tom had a ponytail :hrt: mancrush

I think he's slowly getting better with each film. To me anyway I've never been all that fussed with the action in his films, although there is one particular shot in TDK that's bugged me since day one, but other than that I can live with it because the films as a whole make up for those action shortcomings.

Hmmm. Looks like the person who's falling down the well @ 10:58 is the same person who's climbing it in the first trailer (to me at least).

The bit with Batman fighting Lau's guards is just too slow and obviously staged...

No kinetic energy.

Oh yeah absolutely. Looking at the fight scenes on their own they seem weak but watching the film as a whole I get distracted from the poor fight scenes by the rest of the film. Its like Nolan wont let me doubt him.

What on earth is going on in this thread right now?

Tomdickery.

I agree that the fight with Lau's men seemed a bit slow. Like they were just standing there waiting for Bats to get to them.

Trying to appease everyone’s wishes is hard. Some will always find something to point at and say "this should’ve been like this or that". Eh, it’s understandable I guess.

People should just study film making, become directors and do it themselves then :funny:

While I myself would like more hand to hand combat scenes from Batman, I've never really had an issue with it worth complaining about. It's only when I come to the boards do I see people highlighting the choreography do I even give it a ponder...

One thing is for sure, there will plenty to talk about fight choreography wise after July 20th. With the heavy battles between Bane & Bats, there will be plenty to yay or nay about! LoL

Yes! That didn't look good at all. Especially one of the last guys, who literally just stood there while Batman hit him with the rifle butt in slow motion...

I'm really looking forward to Batman vs. Bane though.

Yes. Everybody should master the craft of whatever they criticize.
