So guys, I know it's been discussed before but since it's been a while, what do you think John Blake's role in the film will pertain to in the scheme of the story? They seemed to like showing him in the trailer and sizzle reel (even over Freeman!)

Im not sure what his role is, i don't agree with all the "his just a cop" thing people keep saying, seems like his character would be useless, i think somehow he will be VERY important in the grand scheme of the story.

I suppose that early on, John Blake will be in the grey area. I foresee a GPD that is partly suspicious of Gordon's inability to catch Batman, while half of it might be loyal to Gordon. Then he could also give us a look into the trouble simmering beneath the veneer of peace that has settled over Gotham, though I would prefer that it were Bruce and Miranda that gave us that view (and Batman going in to attempt to keep the peace).
