The Dark Knight Rises The TDKR General Discussion & Speculation Thread - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Part 31

I'm looking forward to all three of the films. Admittedly I'm expecting more out of TDKR, but that's just how it is.

I really wish people would stop dragging The Avengers and The Amazing Spider-Man into these discussions. One poster here already got reprimanded by a mod for taking unnecessary jabs at TDKR in those boards. Let's not reciprocate.

Can we please just leave these movies in their respective forums? No good ever comes from these discussions.

Exactly.

+1. Flamebaiting is just a waste of energy.

I think that Bane goes into the sewers to set up explosives under the football field. Then Batman goes down to stop him, but gets his ass beat. Then Bane comes up from the sewers and demolishes the field.

Lol. Gotcha. I was just curious, anyways.

Actually I have no idea what's going on. I'm just posting silly comments. I haven't been paying too much attention to the Avengers board today. The Tony Stark is a rational poster comment threw me off. Though from the posts in this thread I'm guessing someone's posts were deleted for some reason (I couldn't find any odd posts in the top few threads).

But in all honestly it's one of the most welcoming and entertaining boards I've experienced on the Hype.

I'm a Batman fan firstly, but i want both ASM and Avengers to be great films, more enjoyment for me. Why anyone would actively want a film to be bad other than to win some dick measuring contest online baffles me to no end.

I've heard worse.

That look on bruce's bloody beaten face...haunts me to no end. I feel so sorry for him and what he's about to go through in this film haha.

You feel sorry for him and yet have Bane's quote in your signature?

Ha ha! Good man! :woot:

I'm beginning to think that maybe Bruce is using a cane just because after 8-10 years of consistent brutal punishment, his body has broken down. Think about what boxers face, and then amplify that. Nolan's already said that Bruce isn't in good shape in the film, and realistically Bruce wouldn't be able to keep a career going as Batman for a decade without enduring enormous amounts of physical abuse.

Is that Bruce jumping off a building without a batsuit. I freezed it and it looks like he's hooked up to his grapplegun, atleast you can clearly see a wire.

What's up with that ?

It's just TDKR-paranoia. If one person starts saying they don't like the movie, that means everybody on the forum is bashing it. :cwink::oldrazz:

Well, hopefully the Avengers gets a trailer for TDKR, so more people will go and see it.

It makes sense but we have two separate shots of Bane holding a detonator - one in the shadows at the football field wearing his long coat and one where he appears to be in the sewers shirtless. In the later, he visibly presses the detonator. That to me suggests separate scenes and sequences of events.

I think the cane is due to an actual injury, rather than his body being hurt through years of abuse, because that would mean batman is a cripple throughout. I just think be it through a confrontation with bane, or getting chased by the cops, he get's hurt; bad enough to take some time off. Alfred probably sees what Bruce has gone through...and is shocked by the image of a relatively young Bruce using a cane to walk. Remember this is the man who raised Bruce since he was young, only to witness him using a CANE to walk. This probably sets him off on his whole "protect you speech" which probably guilts bruce into trying to be Bruce Wayne a bit more (especially considering he's on the shelf for a while untill he heals up).

Bruce then probably gets sucked in deeper into his bruce wayne persona thanks to Miranda...so eventually when bane does come along, bruce is a completely blunt instrument and easy to break.

If he's not in the Batsuit, he must be using a cord of some type.

He's only human.

Yeah, I don't actually agree with the theory, but it's still not too bad of an idea.

I don't think the sewers stuff will have anything to do with the charges. I have no idea what is going on, to be honest.

The only reason I see the "years of abuse" theory as plausible is because of the realism of the situation, and because in The Dark Knight Returns, which Nolan seems to be loosely drawing from, has an older Bruce who's plagued by nagging injuries throughout but still manages to power through them by sheer force of will.

Of course, it could also be because he sustains an injury in the film and is sidelined for most of it. Either/or

The reason why I brought up that theory is because in this shot it looks like Bane is crawling up from the sewers and entering the stadium.

I would guess this is the shot of him emerging from the sewers after setting charges under the football field and he's en route to watch the carnage.

You could be onto something, Goku.

As cool as that shot is, part of me wishes it wasn't the first shot of Bane in the trailer. The pace felt a bit random. They could have gone with something that stuck with the audiences more in terms of their first look at him, like with the Joker in TDK they went with that really scary shot of his face in the interrogation room.

I get what you mean....you already start off a bit off guard with a kid singing in a football field then all of a sudden BANE comes out and you're like wait what? go back! what is that the new batman villain?

Yeah, that's what I mean. It's just odd.
