Why would he have a cane in the first act, though? I mean, there are plenty of explanations I'm sure, but still.

remember that Bruce has grey hair. he is around 40 years old and was for almost 10 years nonstop under stress.
we also have some rumors that they are trying to show that Bruce is getting to old for being batman.

i think him having a cane will only show that this guy can not take it anymore. and this is why Bane is the perfect villain for this movie and bruce's story.

Tangerine meme has been around since The Dark Knight. It's inspired by Alfred's speech where he mentions a child playing with a ruby the size of a tangerine. There's a funny video on YouTube that plays around with this scene having Alfred repeat tangerine over and over again.

Apologies if it's already been mentioned, but in the trailer it looks as if Bane (by what he says and what we see) is rounding up all the rich and powerful in Gotham and placing them elsewhere. This can explain Batman's hiatus and what we see in the jail filled with other people aside from Bruce.

He probably gets injured early in the story, either due to him not being as young as he used to be (remember he's in his late 30s now) or he has an early confrontation with bane that cripples him. We know bruce is imprisoned in the film later on (grey hair) and according to the trailer he's fit enough to walk without a cane and do push ups in his cell, but he also walks with a cane in an undamaged gotham (in front of the press and such). So you can deduct that the cane happens before he is imprisoned and before Bane takes over gotham.

Unless those scenes of Bruce are not taking place in Gotham, and he returns from his exile to outside the city, planning how to break back in...?

Or, he has been abusing his rich-boy persona, and consuming far too much Champagne and foie gras, leaving him with a nasty dose of gout.

from what i understand Bane will destroy a big part of Gotham with the doomsday machine. like the football game. but through the city. we saw that durring winter people are walking around and its a war zone. remember the part where Selina saves a kid.

1. Bruce with a cane is not in winter
2. Bane destroys a big part of Gotham and criminals are running around, i dont think the press and Bruce Wayne would have a party. Bruce is with his lamborghini without snow.

i think Bruce has a cane in the first act. in the second act Bruce is in the prison. i think he gets the cane after the opening action. remember that they filmed Batman running in an alley and then flying out with the batwing? i think there is a small chance that something happens to Batman in the opening action. he is chased by the police. so maybe he hurts his leg. he runs and fly's with the batwing. the next day he has a cane.

My theory was the Bruce Wayne is in a cane after he fell off that building with Harvey Dent in The Dark Knight... maybe he had some sorta leg or spinal injury (you could even see him limping toward the Batpod... that also could be because he got shot by Harvey).... OR, he ends up in a cane after he jumps out of the hospital window after visiting Gordon.
